Learned how to live in Hiroshima, Japan. I'm a tree bather. Confronting my white supremacy social conditioning. Former elementary teacher. Mother of sons.
The Matt Gaetz story about him grooming a 17-year-old homeless girl saving up for braces is one of the darkest things I’ve ever read. He belongs in a special place in hell.
Young candidates get criticized a lot for being inexperienced, but as we just saw with the eight Senate Democrats who caved to Republicans experience doesn’t mean shit if you don’t have a spine.
The next time someone tells you that America isn’t a sick & racist country, just remind them that this nation is willing to accept treason, rape, and child abuse from a white president but not healthcare from a Black one.
This proposal does nothing to stop the Republican-made health care crisis.
It does nothing to stop premiums from doubling for millions of Americans.
Democrats are fighting to make health care more affordable and hold this corrupt and lawless administration accountable.
We can’t end this fight now. I will be voting no.
A wink and a nod to deal with this health care crisis later – with no actual guarantees – is just not enough for me or the Wisconsin families I work for.
I refuse to sign off on a deal that doesn’t lower working families’ health care costs.
@cmclymer I've resisted the previous calls for Schumer to step down. But I'm done getting kicked in the kidneys, it's time to go, @SenSchumer. I'm through taking up for you. You've done some great things, took some righteous stands, but you have to face you're no longer good at your job.
I've looked at all the details of this deal to end the shutdown reached by a small group of Senate Democrats. I've talked to a number of friends on the Hill to see if there's anything I'm missing. Sadly, I am not.
This is a shit deal. It's a betrayal. It's cowardice.
Tonight is a glaring reminder that gerrymandering this spineless party into power isn’t a viable fight for democracy.
It further erodes democracy while allowing Democrats in Congress to have even less of a backbone.
Fight for fair maps.
Organize the working class.
A key organizer of the national No Kings national protests just called for primaries against any Dem Senator who votes for the GOP bill today.
Thank you @ezralevin.
If you’ve never called your Senator before, NOW is the time.
Senators weigh phone calls more heavily than ANY other complaint method, and it’s an easy 2 min call that impacts democracy.
Here is how easy it is:
1. Call the Capitol switchboard ((202) 224-3121) and get routed to your Senators office, or look up their office number on the attach screenshots.
2. You’ll either leave a message or have the call answered by an aide, you can say:
“I’m a constituent calling to express my strong stance *against* Dems voting for the funding deal”
If you feel strongly you can even add:
“This is a make or break issue for me, and if Senator [name] supports it, I’ll be looking to support challenges in a primary.”
Write out what you want to say before hand if you feel nervous.
3. If you’re speaking with an aide, they may ask for your ZIP code as they use it to track reports by area, your information is anonymous and private.
After that, you’re all done.
If leaving a message hang up the phone.
If talking to an aide, simply thank them for taking the message. (Don’t shoot the messenger - you want the aide on your side making sure complaints get tallied!)
The aide will relay the call volume to the Senator.
Trump fired the BLS director for reporting data he didn’t like. Now we can’t trust any of the numbers coming out of the govt because they lie about everything.
The president of the United States is on his way to an NFL game after a weekend spent partying at his country club and fighting to starve poor Americans.
And Senate Democrats want to surrender to him?!
Fuck that and fuck them.
.@SenSchumer+@RepJeffries
If the rumors are true and 10 Democrats are jumping ship, abandoning their party and betraying the country by caving into Trump and some BS promise of future talks in Dec. then you have failed on an epic level.
Hold the line.
Hold the party together.
If they don’t get anything, but a promise to vote later then how do Senate Democrats explain the last 40 days to the people who have suffered? The people were supportive of Dems efforts to fight for something, but what happens if the fight ends with nothing for the people?
Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans & hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from consequences is not the answer.
