@Owlizabeth My position is that if you are defending 343 lore, your opinion on what should or shouldn't happen to the lore doesn't fucking matter in the slightest.
@redvsbluniverse ODST/Reach were the start of the decline but they were still part of a consistent narrative and better games. This is not the gotcha you think it is.
@MAXHALO369 1. Yes it does. That is literally why people rate things.
2. A work should be able to stand on its own.
Happy to have cleared that up for you. Any other arguments?
@bentoDRAWS Halo's story cannot be advanced because it already encompasses the Hero's journey. Either treat the ending of Halo 3 as the last canonical event, or focus on other aspects of the Universe instead of trying to tell more stories with the Chief.
Halo 4 ended with the Didact and the Prometheans as the new galaxy spanning threat and Halo 5 started with the Spartan Avengers and Chief as some sort of maybe villain. It ended with Cortana being a villain because maybe that would be a galaxy spanning threat like the Flood.
When fans asked why the tonal shift between games, we were told to read a bunch of extra background information. Many said "fuck that" and the people that were left were book fans much like yourself (what you would call a "true fan" because you have the patience to read a bunch of extra information).
That's different than setting up a lived in world with details that were not necessarily ever needed to be explained.
You guys are autistically obsessed with trying to explain everything, which is also why the sense of mystery that was a core part of the original Trilogy is now lost.
