it continuously stuns me how rightwingers don't know how anything works at all on a systematic level so they assume nothing should be done about anything ever
Hot take: student loans shouldn’t exist in the first place. Higher education and skills training should simply be a feature of your society, not a profit center for loan sharks.
@aenigme@the_transit_guy We are well aware that affordable housing isn’t being built. That’s a large part of the problem. But all the NIMBYs are enjoying their property values going up so they don’t want to help other people
@BierVicki Just because you couldn’t read it doesn’t mean others can’t. If my 3 year old can learn the names of dinosaurs, a teenager can read Austen just fine.
@RHEasingwoodII@freeshavocadopo@PETNarchist@AlanRMacLeod That’s not what he said, and there is no guaranteed level of violence with or without the state.
But the notion that there isn’t a body of accountability will lower violence and theft is childish
@PETNarchist@freeshavocadopo@RHEasingwoodII@AlanRMacLeod You just said violence and theft is unavoidable even without the state. Then said the ‘difference’ is… that it’s also unavoidable with the state.
You’ve dropped deep into the double digits for the rate of arguer you are at this point. My initial 4th rate grade was too high
we live in age of great moral panics about things that don’t matter and zero moral outrage over some of the most egregious societal sins we’ve ever seen
If we can afford trillionaires, we can absolutely afford for everyone to earn a living wage. The very concept of a trillionaire when the bottom half can't afford rent is batshit crazy.
Most businesses are basically little dictatorships with minimal oversight. “They agreed to it” doesn’t magically settle consent when there's a power gap. For example, a child agreeing to an adult obviously doesn’t make it consensual. Libertarians always seem to forget this though
