And after all of that chaos, Andy Burnham looks the British public in the eye and insists his government has everything firmly in hand?

This is not a functioning government. It is an out of touch political circus presiding over total national collapse!!

The exhaust wing pushes the hot exhaust gas upwards, supporting the upward trajectory of the diffuser flow on both the upstream and downstream sides of the Exhaust Wing (EW). This naturally creates an area of low pressure behind the EW which further supports the pressure recovery of the diffuser flow helping with extraction in an area typically obstructed by the Rear crash structure. The downside of this is that drag is increased, but rear downforce is increased through better diffuser performance.

Cutting a slot in the EW will reduce this low pressure region behind it having a few compounding effects.

1. Less central upwash from the exhaust gas, reducing the drag on the EW itself.

2. Smaller low pressure region behind the EW supports the diffuser less, reducing the overall load from the diffuser. As rear load is also drag on the straights, this could make the car more slippery on the straights while in straight line mode.

Simply put, this is all in the name of helping the rear aero devices to be a little more slippery reducing the overall drag on the straights.

In his 1984 book Losing Ground, political scientist Charles Murray argues that state welfare systems offer perverse incentives that encourage single parenthood, discourage stable work, and ultimately worsen poverty.

Murray's argument is based on incentives. If government assistance is structured so that people lose benefits when they find work, increase their earnings or form a stable household, then the system can unintentionally penalise the very behavior it is supposed to encourage.

Modern welfare system, set up to provide a safety net for those in genuine need, often make taking a job economically irrational. Support for single mothers encourages fathers to abandon their newborns. It creates a vicious circle, where undesirable behaviors become the norm. Societies end up with an underclass trapped in relative poverty, where generational welfare dependency, crime and broken families is common. The cost - both socially and economically - to the rest of society, is enormous.

The book has of course been controversial. But Murray is not blaming the “underclass” itself, but the well-meaning governments whose failed polices have trapped so many in dependency. His central conclusion is indisputable: incentives matter, even when policies are designed with the best intentions.
