I've come to believe that these people who say, "X was always for us," or, "I always wanted to participate but the NERDS," didn't feel excluded by the nerds. They excluded themselves because they didn't want to be associated with the nerds. Now, the nerds have made the things they want cool in the eyes of the general public, so they feel no shame in publicly participating.

But they still don't want to associate with FUCKING DISGUSTING LOSER NERDS.

It isn't though. Both are different representations of the character's design. It may be biasing slightly towards classic to use the splash against updated Kayle's model because of the fidelity difference, but the updated Kayle splash art doesn't show her final / ascended form, just her level 1 base. So it's a poor comparison too do model to model or splash to splash, especially if the original post wants to draw attention to the difference between the golden armor designs. And every classic Kayle skin has a problem with only looking good at level 1, maybe 6. By the time she reaches 16 they're all excessively busy messes with laughably bad attack animations. The art team lacked restraint and, given its such a clear trend with updates causing the previously most popular, and least expensive skins, to look worse, likely was instructed to make them less appealing in order to push new skin sales.

Splashes and models should be compared against each other because they're both supposed to represent the same thing the champion.

That doesn't change the preference for one design over the other. Classic Kayle has a well executed splash art that shows what the design could have been. Updated Kayle has a well executed splash art with a slightly weaker composition because it's only one portion of a larger composition featuring Morgana as well. I've compared them. I compared them when the update was released. I still prefer classic. What now?

Because classic Kayle's model was a neglected relic. That doesn't change the fact that is design is far more intriguing to many people, AND aligns with Riot's alleged goal of diversifying the female cast. Classic Kayle was a fully armored warrior woman. Now she's another broadly sexually appealing chick in body paint and cosplay armor.
