Look at what happened in West Bengal before you trust any SIR process blindly including the one currently running in Karnataka. An RTI filed by Congress MP Isha Khan Choudhury revealed that out of 38 lakh appeals pending before Bengal's SIR tribunals, just 82,782 have been decided so far. Just 2 percent. Of those decided, 75,443 people were restored to the voter list. Only 7,339 stayed excluded. A restoration rate of over 91 percent.

So understand this. Nine out of every ten voters whose names were deleted and who managed to get a hearing were found to have been wrongly removed in the first place. And this is only 2 percent sample. Over 37 lakh appeals are still sitting untouched.

This is exactly why CM DK Shivakumar avaru's letter to the Chief Election Commissioner is very important. Over 1.08 crore voters in Karnataka have been marked as ASDDO in the draft roll and 43 lakh more are set to receive notices for logical discrepancies. He has asked CEC Gyanesh Kumar to extend the claims and objections period, fully implement Gram Sabhas and Ward Committee meetings with proper publicity, give voters facing discrepancy notices at least 3 to 4 weeks to respond, and increase the number of EROs and DEOs to handle the volume without errors.

His point is simple and, given what Bengal's own tribunal data now shows, entirely justified. Mobility, poverty, lack of documentation or lack of information must not become reasons for disenfranchisement.

If your name is missing from the Karnataka draft roll, it’s very likely it wasnt a fair decision. File your claim before September 23.

The SIR in Karnataka has thrown up alarming numbers. Over 1.08 crore voters are marked as ASDDO and about 43 lakh voters are set to receive notices for logical discrepancies. I have requested the CEC Shri Gyanesh Kumar to take the following actions:

1. Extend the period for claims and objections, so genuine voters excluded from the draft roll have adequate time to file claims.
2. Direct the CEO to fully implement the prescribed procedure, including Gram Sabhas in rural areas and Ward Committee meetings in urban areas, with adequate publicity.
3. Extend the time given to voters facing notices for logical discrepancies and absence of a link to the 2002 roll. Each voter should get at least 3–4 weeks to respond and furnish documents.
4. Increase the number of EROs and, if necessary, DEOs to handle the enormous volume of claims, objections and applications and prevent errors and unfair exclusions.

Mobility, poverty, lack of documentation or lack of information must not become reasons for disenfranchisement. The objective must be a voter roll that is accurate, trusted and, above all, one that ensures that no genuine voter is left out.

Why? Because of the borrowers' "privacy".😂

Do you know what happens when you (the taxpayer) defaults on an EMI?

At times, the recovery agents call your company's HR, CEO and your boss to tell them that you are defaulting.

They come to your doorstep and humiliate you in front of your kids, neighbours and family.

Even though it is in violation of RBI's Fair Practices Code.

They leave no stone unturned to shame you and make your mental and physical health go for a toss.

In some cases, they even share your details in a newspaper (while selling your properties).

For wilful defaulters, they are allowed to publish the names and photos of such defaulters.

But apparently, when it comes to industrialists (simplified in this case – for those who have outstanding loans of ₹100 crore), BoB cites "privacy" and refuses to disclose such defaulters.

Privacy for defaulting on public money?
Privacy for the rich but not for the common man?
Privacy for those defaulting on our tax money?

BoB is a government company and thus, the money they're losing here is from our taxpayers' money.

Why do we have different rules for the taxpayers and the industrialists?
