Turks are not Arabs and were converted to Islam when Turkic tribes collided with Arab expansion. Kemal Ataturk, though himself a Madrassa student once, cleaned modern Turkish government and practices of mazhabi association and introduced completely secular public values.

Muslims "fool themselves" to say "it would be as if he killed all mankind." But all Islamic laws are for Muslims, in Muslim societies. "Slay unbelievers wherever you see them". Tafsirs of Ibn Kathir who cites Sayid ibn Jubayr who lived at the time of Muhammad, ("it would be as if he killed all mankind") means, "Whoever kills one soul that Allah has forbidden killing (Muslim), is just like he who kills all mankind.''
It's a cruel, brutal thought process.
