I wish this was never normalized... As someone who worked as a pr manager in the past for many celebs, they really get uncomfortable with fanfics. While some of them want to engage with fandoms, most of them don't want to know about you writing NSFW stories of their characters.
The Neil Gaiman example later in this thread is absolutely evergreen because he's such a perfect case study for "terrible people can make very good and very progressive, empathetic pieces of art". The sooner we stop conflating someone's morality with their work the better.
@daisynramune I read lots of books, study Japanese, watch anime, and wandering around. It’s okay, even I have trouble balancing hobbies. Especially when there’s work & family stuff.

To that I say: screw off. I work a full time job that physically and emotionally drains tf out of me. I struggle with my own mental health battles everyday, always work on myself. Let people be excited ffs
