A @MSUAgBio and honorary Spartans reunion in Australia for the @FeedworksL conference in Australia. So great to catch up with friends and some of the greatest minds in ruminant nutrition 🐮
For decades, research & conventional management have pointed to 60 days as the standard for dry period length. But @AnimNutr at @CANRatMSU sought to challenge this standard, armed w/ #JournalofDairyScience study findings (https://t.co/2TJ9wUL9OR).

New research from Dr. Barry Bradford @AnimNutr suggests that managing for shorter (40-50 days) dry periods may be possible. Read more here: https://t.co/iOMLC3rdiz
The #WCDS2024 Transition Management Session covered the interaction between peripartum nutrition/health/repro and using dry period data to improve lactation. Thank you José Santos and Barry Bradford!

Well-written response from @GHGGuru following the NYTimes / Greenpeace attack piece. I'll save them the FOIA time and let them know that about half of my research is funded by the livestock sector, too. https://t.co/yxaDLeBk3V
Some hardy souls at Jem-Lot Dairy for a @MichiganMilk and @MSUExtension cover crops field day today. Great insights from many attendees. Thanks to the Schafers for hosting!
(3/3) Congrats to Steven Quanz and the rest of the team for "gutting it out" through a tough study. And thanks to Applied Animal Science for making this an Editor's Choice article for October, making it free to access. Let us know what you think!
(1/3) Some of the more challenging questions I get from dairy nutritionists are when herds are troubleshooting #enteric diseases. It's a huge frustration not only because this seems to pop up out of nowhere, but also because it tends to hit the most productive cows in a herd.
(2/3) We had the "luck" of dealing with a gut disease outbreak during one of Steven Quanz's experiments. Although frustrating at the time, I think the case study we just published will help make progress on this #dairy cattle syndrome: https://t.co/jSK05UyKAY
