Canada’s economy lost 84,000 jobs in February, pushing the unemployment rate to 6.7% (up from 6.5% in January), according to Statistics Canada.

- Losses driven mainly by full-time and private-sector jobs
- Biggest impact on core-age men (25–55) and youth (15–24)
- Job declines across goods & services sectors
- Wholesale & retail trade alone shed 18,000 jobs

After modest gains last fall, the labour market is showing signs of cooling.

• About $1.9 B a year for Nunavut through Territorial Formula Financing

• Billions in Indigenous housing funding, including northern communities
