I notice that many of those telling me to feed them have failed to answer the basic question I wrestled with: why should my kids eat more than Sudanese kids just bc I have food?

- Fix discovery reform so that DAs can get convictions;
- Create a persistent misdemeanant enhancement;
- Use the persistent felon enhancements more aggressively;
- Restore the NYPD's manpower to pre-2020 sworn officer levels;
- Expand treatment beds for SMI and drug abuse;
- Expand the use of involuntary commitment for both.

Executive director huffed that they “let kids be kids.” I said “well there’s being kids and then there is inappropriate behavior.” She was not interested in a conversation. Glad we established that the nice service was an outlier and that the congregation is still bizarre!

Nearly tricked into joining my family’s ancestral synagogue! We went to a family service full of normal kids. I told staff this was the first time I ever enjoyed a service there because the children were well-behaved and no one was ROLLER SKATING IN THE SYNAGOGUE.

Posting clips from the Naudet Bros 9/11 documentary, this scene shows the extreme degree of heroism and selflessness of the firefighters as they recognize in the early confusion that there’s a huge fire up on the 90th floor or so, and they’re going to need to climb up there with all their gear. Each guy they interview, almost nonchalantly, says “we’ll go up there and deal with it, we’ll get to it.” These guys carrying full hose packs (50-100+ lbs) their SCBA, all their tools, just focused on getting up 70 floors to people and helping them. Elite Americans, they planned to climb over an hour just to reach people before they got to work saving them.

@FrankBednarz @EsotericCD @tedfrank I think it’s fair to generalize about the entire city since the decline is tied to poor governance. It has become more chaotic and the fact that there are relatively livable pockets doesn’t disprove it. I wish I could afford to move to the west or north suburbs!

@FrankBednarz @tedfrank I moved out of HP because of several incidents of assaults on the lakeshore bike path, including a man and his bike being thrown into the lake. It’s sad not to even be able to enjoy the amenities when we visit.

@tedfrank @FrankBednarz The Point also sucks now and so do the streets around it. Very crowded now by an underclass element making the whole place reek of marijuana since the city imposed curfews on the 31st Street beach.
