As I have taken on a new responsibility as the new lead foreign affairs spox, I post now under @ExtSpoxEU. Follow me there for foreign affairs and security related matters.
Bulgaria and Romania belong fully to the Schengen area.
Removing internal controls at land borders is the last hurdle.
I welcome the positive outcome of informal discussions in Budapest today.
@EUCouncil formal decision is next.
Let 2025 see Schengen become stronger.
A free and independent press is essential for democracy.
On #WorldPressFreedomDay and beyond, the EU stands with journalists who courageously share the truth, often at great risk.
Our Media Freedom Act aims to protect them and uphold press freedom and pluralism.
In today’s global context, reuniting our continent under shared values of democracy and the rule of law is more pressing than ever.
We’ve made strong strides toward integrating new Member States in recent years.
And enlargement will remain a top priority for the new Commission.
Congratulations to the people of Moldova and to you, @sandumaiamd
You’ve done it again!
In the face of Russia’s hybrid tactics, Moldova shows that it is independent, it is strong and it wants a European future!

Across generations.
From all backgrounds.
With different experiences.
But all with one common goal: to make Europe stronger.
The structure of von der Leyen II Commission.
Today I’m presenting my team for the next five years.
A team of competent and motivated women and men ready to work together.
For a stronger Union.
For a more secure Europe.
For a more competitive Europe. https://t.co/Og37dmsXcJ
📣 President @vonderleyen will present her proposal for the new College this morning to the media.

A big day. Happy to launch the Visa Liberalisation Dialogue with Deputy PM Mher Grigoryan.

Bringing people closer together, recognising Armenia’s efforts in strengthening ties with the EU.
Russia is relentlessly targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
Temperatures will soon go down, so we are stepping up our humanitarian aid to Ukrainians in need.
With a new €40 million package for repair works, electricity, heating and shelter.
Europe will always be at Ukraine’s side, because Ukraine is Europe.
Your freedom is our freedom.
Your security is our security.
We've been standing with you since day one. And we'll continue to do so, for as long as it takes.
I'm wishing our friends a proud Independence Day.

The EU stands with Ukraine.
Today we transfer €1.5 billion in proceeds from immobilised Russian assets to the defence and reconstruction of Ukraine.
There is no better symbol or use for the Kremlin’s money than to make Ukraine and all of Europe a safer place to live.
Today, we adopted the 5th Rule of Law Report. Compared to the first report of 2020, Member States and the 🇪🇺 do now better:
✅detect
✅prevent
✅& address
emerging rule of law challenges
The #RuleOfLaw Report will remain at the heart of our work, including in the next mandate.
I welcome the extension of roaming between the EU and Ukraine for another year.
In times of war, a phone line is a lifeline, connecting people who sought refuge in Europe to those who stayed on the front.
We stand with the people of Ukraine.
Delighted at the news that our Swedish colleague Johan Floderus and his compatriot Saeed Azizi have been released from unjustified Iranian custody.
I wish them a good reunion with their loved ones.
Congratulations to Sweden for its persistent work to achieve this outcome.
