The Anti Asylum Bill has passed. Our gov has closed our asylum system & our slavery support systems.
There’s still no alternative to crossings so people will be forced into even more danger to avoid detection, stay in the hands of exploiters & traffickers.
The darkest of days
Just 20 years ago, after tireless struggle, Section 28 was defeated.
But now we have another generation of LGBT+ youth growing up in a climate of dangerous hostility.
We must not give an inch to anti-trans bigotry. Like our movement won then, we will win again.

Population density seems to be a new rallying cry of the anti migrant narrative. Its really not a reason to help folk. But OK let’s have that discussion…
We’re the 52nd most densely populated country, guess which is 23rd? Rwanda.
Good discussion.

We didn't have parties to "boost morale"
We didn't have quiz nights
We didn't have champagne
We watched our colleagues die though
We were STEEPED in death
We kept going
We had to
We kept on
So don't you DARE say your parties were "necessary" @borisjohnson
You make me sick.
There are no protection routes for LGBT people - their only route is irregular border crossings. With increasing hatred & homophobia more will be forced into small boats & be among the 60,000 people the government want to detain without access to the asylum system.
Chancellor could have announced a wealth tax on richest 1%, raising up to £70bn - funding cheaper public transport, more home insulation & public sector pay rises for millions. He didn't - anything to do with this being a Govt run by millionaires, for millionaires? #Budget2023
Less than 1% refugees come to the UK. The things that bring them to the UK - family, community, language, take them to other countries also. She really doesn’t understand refugees’ behaviour; it’s no surprise her policies fail. https://t.co/rJAfSC0dk9
Things Suella Braverman admits here:
1⃣ The lack of safe routes forces people into dangerous journeys.
2⃣ There are no safe and legal routes for people to enter the UK from most of the world.
3⃣ Children fleeing persecution can’t come to the UK, even if they have family here.
Yesterday I was arrested by @HertsPolice whilst covering a protest on the M25.
I showed my press card, and I was handcuffed almost immediately. My phone was snatched out of my hand. I was searched twice, held in a cell for 5 hours, and I wasn’t questioned whilst in custody.
Rishi Sunak trumpets his plan for "investing in renewables" - is this the same plan that includes banning onshore wind, blocks new solar farms, and a windfall tax with a gigantic loophole for continued climate-wrecking fossil fuel investment? #COP27
After 3 weeks reporting on the Ocean Viking search and rescue ship, I've hung up my lifejacket.
I'm taking a bit of time off now, but here's a recap of my reports. They aren't easy reading, but I urge you to take a look - not enough is known about what's happening in the Med.🧵
Our legal case against the Rwanda scheme is currently being heard in the High Court.
Our CEO @KSmith_J explains why we took this first step in making sure this unlawful and unfair scheme does not take hold in our asylum system.
We thought it’d be fitting to treat you to a year-by-year potted history of the last decade of Code Club.
Wherever you joined us on this decade-long journey - THANK YOU! #CodeClubIs10

A national refugee hosting scheme like this is too big to say nothing about, but the lack of detail, and some of the worries that's giving us, makes it feel too soon to say anything decisively.
But here's what we can say...
