@WestCoastHorn@thedailytexan Actually many (Ukrainians or not) called for the center to remove all Russian flags. They even called for UT to stop offering Russian as a language. They even came after the Russian student exchange program…
I’m sure when they pull federal funding they won’t pull from UTs Defense Research Project…or if he makes good on his promise to (the rest of the departmental positions that exist bc of federal grants) he’d quite literally be shooting hisself in the foot.
We cannot allow the lawlessness we’ve seen recently on college campuses.
Congress will take action to protect Jewish students and hold these pro-Hamas protestors accountable.
@SpeakerJohnson I’m sure when you pull federal funding you won’t pull from UTs Defense Research Project…or if you make good on your promise to can the rest of the departmental positions that exist bc of federal grants you’d quite literally be shooting yourself in the foot
@AwesomeRedshirt@colbogus@thedailytexan Yea the funding is gone too 😢 that’s a part a lot of people forget. “Oh it’s fine they were just redistributed”…yea without funding or leadership.
@colbogus@AwesomeRedshirt@thedailytexan See comment above…😒
All of those people were let go regardless. These little standalones will suffer working at half capacity of what they were used to. But I’m glad you found the article, that’s a good start.
@colbogus@AwesomeRedshirt@thedailytexan It’s not just about color. These closures included the “community engagement office” which housed disability services and women in STEM…
@WestCoastHorn@thedailytexan No they did one better. The department a couple of them work in opened their doors to Ukrainian academics looking to flee the country while continuing their studies
@CreightonForTX@TxDPS@UTAustin There were 5x the amount of protestors today and not a single act of violence occurred…I wonder what the difference was between today and yesterday ? 🤔
Back at UT Austin for day two of protests. This one says it is both intended to support Gaza and to condemn the police response yesterday.
The crowd is at least 5x larger than the crowd that showed up yesterday at this time. Peaceful, quiet. Very little law enforcement presence.
@PaulaWe08194941 @brian_todd_ @RyanChandlerTV You left out a part, surprise….”public records show no clear evidence financially linking Hamas or any foreign governments to the American protests.” And this is a student org. We are talking about. They don’t file taxes…
@PaulaWe08194941 @brian_todd_ @RyanChandlerTV Yea, a few people brought tents but that was never advertised. So how did this warrant 3 different police agencies armed to the teeth with swat gear? These guys were ready to go before a single tent popped up…
@brian_todd_ @RyanChandlerTV No, they weren’t. You can argue semantics all day. They fact is, this says nothing about bringing tents and staying the night
@PGard0191@Beefy3101 @LaurenGutterman @UTAustin@JCHartzell It was a freakin militarized zone which engulfed the main thoroughfare of campus. Most of the people on this pedestrian street were kids and faculty trying to get to class, not protestors.
