The Duke Institute for Brain Sciences may have the coolest seminar space of all time. That was a blast! Thanks so much @woodforbrains for hosting me and @anna_p_smith and @sinclair_allie for hanging with me before my flight โค๏ธ
@kenzieetrupp@googlearts I loved your talk at IAEA and was just thinking about it! I'm working on an abstract painting stimulus set right now and was wondering if you know whether Google arts & culture is open-access. It seems copyright-free, but the images aren't downloadable (presumably on purpose?).
Somebody on here is bound to appreciate this shirt I found at my recent 5 year college reunion.
I also got confirmation from a real-life linguistics major @JaredVasil that, even though this wasn't my major, I can still choose and be chosen by the wug life. Not a poser.

Breaking in my new twitter to thank @PrincetonNeuro for inviting us former interns to present on our research (+finally met my fellow 2020 Zoom cohort!). To top it off, I got the opportunity to catch up with my fantastic undergrad advisor @LisaMargulis!
๐จ New #preprint alert ๐จ Anna Smith (@anna_p_smith), trainee in the lab of Paul Seli PhD) (@PaulSeliArt) reports on a new way to measure creativity in the lab: painting! May better tease apart visual vs. verbal creativity and general intelligence.

@mike_yassa@Duke_SSNAP@ucicnlm It was great, I got to talking to him afterwards about the CNLM back when it was just the founding professors! He was a philosophy PhD student at the time.
My worlds are colliding at @Duke_SSNAP as John Bickle enthusiastically recounts Gary Lynch's heterodox & historic LTP work while telling the story of @ucicnlm. Super fun talk!
๐ข Abstract submissions for IAEA are due this Sunday 5/15! Where do you think the study of aesthetics is (or should be) headed?
Submissions from all fields/occupations welcome. #Aesthetics twitter please ๐
if you'd rather hear it as a 20 minute talk, I'll be delivering the same information as my "third year talk" to @DukeBrain tomorrow at noon! (dm for zoom details)
Day 1 of #sfnc2022! If you're around for poster session 1 (2:50-3:35), come check out my poster, 136, and hear about how performance on commonly-collected creativity measures compares to painting ability. Also๐ (1/2)
I was forwarded the info for this empirical aesthetics seminar series starting early May and continuing through June and haven't seen anything on here about it yet. Looking forward to the first talk on predictive models of aesthetic experience:

#CNS2022 Poster session C, Sunday 5โ7pm. Come see what we've been up to using PCA on image features to predict memorability! @woodforbrains
@SelfShenyang. Boost me @DukeBrain!
Just updated the Twitter bio to be "phd candidate" after passing my defense ๐ hoping to disseminate what I wrote somehow, although I'm not sure what a good venue is for a theoretically-pointed lit review (help?). Maybe the content will find its way into empirical papers...
