Giving teachers hardly any time in their rooms after they return to get ready for the school year might suggest that they were supposed to be preparing for the school year during their unpaid time off.
If we want educators to work during the summer, pay them for their time.
Mora Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, February 22 due to the poor road conditions and expected snowfall throughout the day. There will not be an E-Learning Day tomorrow.
Kids, families, teachers & staff have been through a lot in the last 20 months. To recognize their courage, tenacity, & resilience today was proclaimed as Duluth Public Schools Community Recognition Day. Thank you for being creative, giving grace, and showing up. @ISD709News
Imagine if, as kids, we were taught that putting ourselves first is ok. In all the lessons of kindness towards others, we were taught to be kind to ourselves too. That self-love isn’t selfish. That choosing ourselves over others shouldn’t come at a cost. JUST. IMAGINE.
There is a lot of discussion around educator burnout. There needs to be more discussion about educator trauma. Our kids are living in chronic stress, and so are educators. It isn’t about burnout as much as it is about mental and physical health in jeopardy.
It is a crisis.
@Wipebook Relaxing and spending time with my family on Lake Superior. Something about the water renews my soul. Hopefully we get in one more trip up north before another school year filled with unknowns begins.

Just returned from an amazing trip to the North Shore. @LakeSuperior never disappoints. First time kayaking on Gitche Gumee. Can't wait to do it again!
We had a great time at our annual kindergarten farm trip! 🐮🥛🐷🥓🐔🥚 Thankful for good weather ⛅, fresh air🌳, and being able to do something "normal" in a crazy year. 🐐🐴🐰🚜
Thanks to the Anderson’s for having our Mora Mustang Kindergarten students visit their farm. Our FFA & 4H students helped teach the students about the animals. What a great tradition. @MoraElem
I'm pretty sure we need to get back to the basics. When students enter my classroom they become part of our family community where we demonstrate respect and compassion. This isn't optional. I want my students to become productive, responsible, & caring members of society. (1/3)
It isn't easy, and sometimes it takes all year, but we work together to overcome obstacles and perservere. If FIVE year olds can figure this out why can't the adults (of both political parties) in the country do the same? Seriously. Just send them back to kindergarten. (2/3)
