Now, for some personal news.
I am very excited to share that I will be joining The Associated Press through @Report4America in Austin, Texas.

I'll be working on the biggest stories of the day. Otherwise, my focus will be on redistricting & voting rights.
He also denied any deal to secure his alleged selection as lieutenant governor, which has still not been confirmed.
"Like the governor said, this is politics," Evette said. "These kind of things get speculated and said and accused."
McMaster and Pam Evette answered a few questions about "those" alleged social media posts that belonged to Henry Jr.
"We're young and stupid in college," he said. "I'm very proud of my son. "He's a grown man now. I think he would make a very good candidate for public office."
Last week, statehouse reporters sat for a press conference where a bold claim was presented: that there were millionaires on the state's Medicaid rolls.
But it might not be completely true.

Congratulations to Pam Evette for getting the President's endorsement and Henry McMaster Jr. for getting the endorsement as her running mate for Lieutenant Governor. This is something Pam coveted and has been seeking for several months. As many of you know, I was in a very small group of million-dollar individual donors to the President's 2024 campaign when Nikki Haley was still in the race. I do believe the President rescued the country from potential disaster with Kamala. That said, I never made the trip to Washington DC to seek the President's endorsement because I felt this was between you, the voters of South Carolina and me and still believe that. I ask that you do your homework and vote your conscience in this primary.
No one’s fought harder or risked more for President Trump and his agenda than I have. I look forward to continuing to deliver real results for South Carolina families as their next Governor. And congratulations to Pam Evette for picking Henry McMaster Jr. to be her running mate.
US Rep. Nancy Mace issues statement after Trump endorses Evette for SC Governor, writing in part that she knew "I put the likelihood of an endorsement on the line when I demanded transparency on the Epstein files. ...
If this is the price of an endorsement, I will never pay it."

Early voting turnout in South Carolina reached historic levels this week. More than 119,000 ballots were cast in the first three days.
Significant compared to 2024, when there were about 120,000 early voters total.
New Winthrop University Poll this AM offers some serious pulse checks on how South Carolinians are feeling about the economy:
- Paying for food is difficult or very difficult for 67%
- Only 1 in 5 respondents say they are better off than a year ago.

Now the subsequent motion to continue the bill (rule below): motion adopted 26-18.
They kill it without killing it, essentially, moving it to next session.
Special session now adjourned.
What this means: Tuesday will be incredibly long, but this accelerates the inevitable: people will have voted in-person under the existing maps at this point, heightening the risk of being thrown out in court.
Now it's a matter of talking Republicans down, say Dems.
That motion succeeds 27-17, and the maps receive second reading.
Nos: Allen, Bennett, Campsen, Davis, Devine, Graham, Hembree, Hutto, Jackson, Massey, Matthews, Ott, Rankin, Sabb, Sutton, Tedder, Walker.
We'll be in perfunctory and return on Tuesday -- when early voting starts.
Shane Massey is now making a motion to withdraw all remaining motions and to take a recorded vote on second reading.
If the vote is successful, a three-fifths vote requirement for amendments on third reading would be waived, and we take this up again Tuesday at 11 a.m.
