spirituality is heartbreaking. you have to use the heart to grieve its chains. you break the heart out, and out, and out, until it's the whole field, everything, everywhere, dizzying and stupendous and inescapable. you realise it was never in chains. you were just squeezing it
after talking with a friend about childhood trauma stuff I'm seeing again how many of problems we have are in our relationship with truth. some stuff we learn to habitually lie to ourselves about when really young and it takes till your 40s to figure out how that's still live
'Regulating oneself' is not a thing to do, it is what happens when we meet our needs in the moment.
If there is any other 'doing' involved in regulating it is likely you controlling yourself and down regulating your feelings
How someone treats you when they're angry (or you bring up what hurt you) is infinitely more important and relevant than how they treat you when things are good!
my local park has a park gym now so i can work my way to doing pull-ups again. i am embarrassed to use it so i go at dusk but sometimes i get a little scared by the dog walkers
it's weirdly nice to be feeling kind of unhinged after a breakup. there's all this thwarted desire and anger and these pleading impulses and complaints of unfairness. wayyy better than feeling shut down and kind of pleasant in its intensity
@janneljones my take is envy is wanting something someone else has, it's a negatively valenced proxy for desire. jealousy is more of a sense of being threatened by a close person's life or other relationships, more about security/insecurity
one of the more pedantic things I've tried to learn myself on in the past year is differentiate between jealousy and envy. bugs me that lots of ppl use jealousy for both somehow
If you can’t just-do-things/-something, there’s ~always either an *excellent* or *outdated* ~REASON why, and in *both* cases, you can patiently, gently surface that reason (over seconds or sometimes years!) and figure out how to wisely honor, caring-ly parent, or actively obviate it.
In any case, if you can’t-just-do-things, and SOMEONE ELSE or YOU YOURSELF think(s) you SHOULD-just-be-able-to-right-now, something is being left out, arguably unfairly, ignorantly, manipulatively or somewhere-self-forcing-ly. (The latter, that too, is also for an excellent or outdated reason.)
@eatnik i think you can be triggered alone but enactment necessarily involves the therapist? i also had the sense that enactment is more about a dynamic caused by projective identification than an emotional state
