He lied and told untruths. It is illegal for grownups to lie in business matters. He had a chance to tell the truth and not go to court but he decided to keep lying. He helped pick 12 people to listen to all the facts. They did listen. He again had a chance to tell his side of the story but he chose not to. The twelve brave people called jurors met in a room and decided that he did lie which is against the law so they had to charge him with a crime.
