A widespread weather system is expected to bring intense thunderstorms to the middle Mississippi, Ohio, and Tennessee Valleys this Monday.

Early in the afternoon, individual rotating storms are likely to form. These specific types of storms carry the highest risk for producing strong, long-track tornadoes, especially in parts of Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri. As the evening progresses, these individual storms will likely merge into a larger line or cluster as they move southeast.
