We rank 4th in the OECD for the greatest concentration of disadvantaged children in disadvantaged schools and 8th out of 71 countries. Our school system is highly segregated. Yet, Aust overfunds private schools by $1bn and underfunds public schools by $19bn.
@mindbodymiko 2/2 needs to be directed at the gvt rather than punishing people who need public health the most. Attitudes such as those of your boss are unhelpful and precisely what gvt relies on in justifying neglect of public health funding bc it leaves the responsibility with the indiv
@mindbodymiko Completely agree w you about funding. The gvt has clearly neglected Medicare over decades. However the answer isn’t to further punish disadvantaged and marginalised people who are already struggling to put a roof over their head amongst other things. Our collective anger 1/2
@mindbodymiko I appreciate your response. I think it’s one thing to introduce these policies if it’s a private non essential business like a restaurant but am concerned if it is introduced to public health facilities catering to disadvantaged clients.
@mindbodymiko With respect, there are patients out there in situations you cannot even fathom. Failing to attend an appointment often has nothing to do with respect for a GP and everything to do with all the other struggles patients are experiencing in their lives.
@mindbodymiko This is not it. I’m a community lawyer and today all my clients were no shows. Was it because they didn’t “respect my time” or was it that they needed to spend their limited capacity dealing with the 10 other competing priorities like food, shelter, housing etc
There are many people in this country, of all genders and all races, who are smarter than me, better than me. But you can't convince me the class of mediocre, entitled, talentless, and frankly morally bankrupt angry white men like Bolt are more than a pity party of clowns.
I remember the last election, after the gruelling and racist African gang campaign, waiting to see if Victorians agree.
I cried watching the result come in . It felt like a hug from other Victorians. It was a moment that felt like home. Like saying, we stand with you. You belong
Fitbit is facing legal action for allegedly lying to customers about their rights to a refund (again). A reminder that too many companies fail to respect the consumer guarantees we have under the Australian Consumer Law https://t.co/b2awZjmmdE
In light of Optus' disappointing customer service after the cyber-attack, Consumer Action again calls for greater regulations in the industry and for hardship provisions to be strengthened. @theage

Amazing news for the West! PT is critical to ensuring our communities remain connected to essential services and this is a burgeoning corridor desperately in need of a station @WEstjusticeCLC
A new station at Tarneit West is great news! It's also important for the government to fund more trains to relieve crowding and provide a suburban service for this fast-growing part of Melbourne. https://t.co/t4jphJH96M
@Telstra No, I’m an existing Telstra customer at the end of my phone contract and need to speak to someone re upgrading since this phone is broken. Not interested in online due to wanting to speak to a person & proliferation of scams etc
@Telstra is a prime example of why privatisation of an essential service does not work. Why does it take three wks for me to book an appointment to give you money? Isn’t privatisation meant to make it *efficient* and consumer focused? I’d have more luck at Medicare rn
