On December 1st, as the sun rose over Brady Landfill, we gathered in ceremony and smoked the pipe.

At 8:45 a.m., the first truck rolled into the search facility. That moment marked the formal start of the search for Ashlee Shingoose - Mashkode Bizhiki’ikwe, Buffalo Woman.

A year ago we began the search at Prairie Green … the search that brought Morgan Harris and Marcedes Myran home.

When someone goes missing in Manitoba, we go looking.

And on this December 1st, we continue to fulfill that promise - alongside the Shingoose family, with ceremony, and with respect at every step.

There has been a heartbreaking situation in the riding, where a family has been left without any belongings due to a fire in their apartment. This family is new to Canada and, while they have been housed again safely, they are struggling to pay for things like furniture, clothing and shoes — without these simple things, their children have not been able to go to school.

A lawyer from Physicians for Human Rights – Israel (PHRI) finally visited Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya today, after four denied attempts.

Dr. Abu Safiyah has been detained for 276 days under inhumane conditions:

❗️Lost over 25 kg due to deliberate starvation.

❗️Subjected to continuous torture and physical assaults along with other healthcare workers.

❗️Denied medical treatment despite suffering from scabies and pre-existing heart disease.

❗️Never brought before a judge and not informed of any legal reason for his detention.

👨‍⚕️ He stated, “My only crime is being a doctor.”

Over 100 doctors and nurses are being punished for treating Gaza’s wounded.

The family calls on international organizations, human rights groups, and the global community to act urgently to secure the release of Dr. Abu Safiya and all detained healthcare workers.

🚨 BREAKING : Alarming updates on Dr. Hussam Abu Safieh’s @HussamAbuSafiya condition in Ofer prison :

Dr. Hussam Abu Safieh Elyas, abducted from Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza during the ongoing war:
▫️ His lawyer, who visited him in Ofer prison, reported he has lost over 30 kg.
▫️ He is enduring harsh conditions, denied sunlight, suffers from a skin disease, and is prevented from bathing.
▫️ He still has 5 shrapnel fragments in his thigh from a quadcopter strike at Al-Shifa Complex, and has not been examined by a surgeon, leading to serious complications.

NBA legend Alonzo Mourning built a 37 million dollar senior living complex in Florida, called Astoria on 9th. It has 120 apartments, with one and two bedroom homes that are between 635 and 900 square feet.

Rent is only 322 dollars for those with very low income, and even the highest rent is around 1316 dollars, which is still much less than most places in Florida. To qualify, seniors must be 55 or older and have an income below certain levels, so it is made for people who really need affordable housing.

The community is not just about cheap rent. It has a cyber café with internet and a kitchen, a gym for exercise, a clubhouse where people can gather, and even a dog park for pets. Everything was designed to look modern and welcoming, just like expensive apartments, so that seniors feel proud of where they live.

This project gives seniors a safe and beautiful home at a price they can afford. Alonzo Mourning showed all rich people what giving back really looks like, building something that changes lives in a real and lasting way.
