Never thought I’d have a family of my own. Now I’m holding a little piece of my heart in my arms. Life has a beautiful way of giving you things you never knew you needed. Whatever you're doing today I hope you have a great day 😊
You know the way I was smiling at my folks watching the soaps when I posted photos here on Thursday of them on Coronation Street and at Southfork in Dallas?
I just came across this one of me.
On Ramsay Street… 🤣🤣🤣
When I came to the Netherlands, I didn't speak Dutch. I started training to become a social worker and working in frontline services, while learning the language at the same time. Today, I'm even writing my reports in Dutch.
My initial contract was for just six months. Today, I received the news that it has been extended for another year.
I'm incredibly happy and proud of how far I've come. There is still plenty to learn, both professionally and with the Dutch language, but moments like this make you realise how much progress I've already made.
Not bad for a lad from Ireland.

My Dad's anniversary is coming up, so I've been looking through old photos. Seeing this picture of him as a baby stopped me in my tracks, the resemblance to Saoirse is just incredible. Missing him today
I drank heavily to survive what was done to me as a child. It was the only way I knew to quiet it.
1088 days ago I put the bottle down, with no idea what I was saying yes to. I only knew what I had to say no to.
Since then, I became a dad. My child will grow up with a father who's present, the kind of safety I never had.
I'm going into my third year as a student social worker. Earlier this year I stood at a trauma-informed conference and told my story, with the boy who lived it on the screen behind me.
If you're still in the dark and struggling keep going. There's a life on the other side you can't imagine yet. I'm proof. #SoberLife #TherapyWorks
Healing looks different than I thought it would. Sometimes it looks like this. Six weeks of being her dad, and every day I'm learning what love should have looked like all along. I can't change the childhood I had, but I can help shape the one Saoirse will have. 🥰
It's hard to put into words what this moment feels like. A mixture of overwhelming love, gratitude, pride, and awe. Watching her arrive and seeing the strength and courage of her mother has been the most humbling experience of my life.
Welcome to the world, Saoirse. ❤️
