We love to see it: A profitable newspaper with local owners investing in journalism and making a business of print.
The @BostonGlobe and @PhillyInquirer are really exciting examples of non-nationalized publications making it work. https://t.co/eBBDNaT4zm
Newspapers are closing at an emergency-level rate—over the past 20 years, America has lost more than 3,000. For the past six years, the photographer Ann Hermes has been documenting the lives lived in these dying places across the country. See more images: https://t.co/fZqNYFMo1O
You know…DC Mayor Muriel Bowser was lionized and proverbially dragged from the rooter to the tooter about Trump and how she engaged with the administration. She was doing what she needed to do as a Mayor, but the headlines suggested she was a capitulator and a coward. Meanwhile the headlines from this Mamdani meeting will say the Mayor-elect is brilliant.
Not saying either is wrong, just pointing out the difference in the way people speak about and cover our leaders.
One million trips in a single day—what a milestone for @wmata! More and more, people across the DMV are choosing to #TakeTransit to get where they need to go…including, most recently, to see the cherry blossoms. 🌸
Sen. Hassan asked Kennedy to simply define Medicare Part A, B, C.
The HHS pick stumbled through with incorrect answers.
Kennedy said Medicare Part A is "mainly for primary care and physicians" (Part A is hospital insurance).
For Part B: "For physicans and doctors." (Part B is medical insurance that covers services from doctors and other providers, along with outpatient + home health care).
Part C: "Medicare Part C is a program where it's a full menu of all of the services." (It's Medicare Advantage, which is a private alternative to parts A and B.)
"When was it that you decided to sell out the values you've had your whole life in order to be given power by President Trump?"

my toddler son insisted on making a “blue cake” with me today
then he decided it was a birthday cake and we had to sing the song
so my wife looked in Politico Playbook to see who was born today
anyway, happy birthday @SecBecerra
President Trump claims to be focused on improving government efficiency but in his first week in office he has illegally fired the very people whose job it is to root out waste, fraud, and abuse.
Today, I presented @HHS_ASH, Admiral Rachel Levine, with the Distinguished Service Medal – the highest award granted to a Public Health Service officer. This is an honor she’s earned through her exceptional contributions and work to strengthen the @usphscc and its 5,600 officers.
I’ve read 489 books this year.
Impossible? Nope.
How’d I do it? Here’s the secret…
I have a toddler and most of them were kids books. If we count rereads I’m into the many thousands.
Thanks for coming to my productivity back session
Front Porch Forum has quietly grown in recent years to become Vermont’s most popular social network, not through some technological breakthrough, but thanks to strict terms of use that say only community members, using their real names, may post. https://t.co/GatbB3Jdf1
Abortion bans kill another woman. On the day of her baby shower, Nevaeh Crain went to the ER bleeding & feverish. She was diagnosed with sepsis, a deadly infection - but her fetus still had a heart beat. She was sent home. After her 3rd ER visit, she died.

Dealing with the grief of my miscarriage was hard enough — I can’t imagine living in fear of being prosecuted for what happened to me or not getting necessary health care.
But that's what some women & doctors now face because Trump-appointed justices overturned Roe v. Wade.
Health insurers would be required to cover over-the-counter birth control and additional FDA-approved contraceptives without cost-sharing under a proposal the Biden administration unveiled on Monday. https://t.co/AInTr14B1F
Millions of people with private health insurance would be able to pick up over-the-counter methods like condoms, the "morning after" pill, and birth control pills for free under a new rule the White House proposed on Monday. https://t.co/31FDAQNY5m
