Before the Hadro reading, I thought one of the main goals of digitizing was merely to get people to view the digital collection. Now I see how important it is for people to go further and interact with the objects by using (and reusing) them in other contexts #NLDigIntern

Though the crowdsourcing sites for this week had many similar features, I think the tagging option for LOC's By the People makes it my favorite platform overall #NLDigIntern

I love the concept of microtasking as discussed in the Van Hyning reading. Giving volunteers a choice about how much to transcribe is empowering and may keep them coming back to the project #NLDigIntern

@VavroskyL Exactly! Who wants to volunteer for a project if the project organizers treat you like you are incompetent? It would take all the enjoyment out of crowdsourcing participation and the project would most likely lose volunteers #NLDigIntern

I was most surprised to learn from the Holley article that up to 80% of crowdsourcing work is done by 10% of super volunteers who treat the project like a full-time job! #dedication #NLDigIntern
