So instead of backing its players, the Spanish football federation threatens to sue them, and what should be the best week of their lives is rapidly becoming the worst. #SeAcabo https://t.co/fUXPJGCjMi
There is an event taking place in London on 14 June that openly advertises the sale of land in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank - there is no chance the UK government would allow stolen Ukrainian land to be sold off to people in the UK - why the double standards?
It’s an unpopular view but Arsenal’s title is the story of considerable overperformance against wealthier opposition - City’s higher wage bill is the equivalent of more than five Sakas
It wasn’t always pretty but it is maximising everything you’ve got

I have covered sexual violence in conflict for more than a decade. These are very difficult stories to report - not just emotionally, but in terms of corroboration and evidence-gathering. Given the evidence we have, though, it's impossible to deny that Palestinians are being sexually abused in Israeli prisons and by far-right settlers, and that soldiers, settlers, and guards are sexually violating Palestinians with impunity because the right-wing Israeli government has made clear that there will be no consequences for even horrific crimes and acts of abuse. Thanks to @NickKristof for writing about it.

Once more for those in the back; settlements are state policy!
It's not a few 'bad apples'. It's a well documented policy of ethnic dispossession, displacement & replacement.
It's extremist, illegal, violent, racist.
And Israel finances, protects, legislates, & administers it
I join Amnesty International in condemning #Eurovision and call everyone with a conscience not to watch it.
BIG THANK YOU to the 5 countries who withdrew from the competition:
Iceland!
Ireland!

Put Apartheid out of our lives.
Today marks four years since my aunt, Shireen Abu Akleh, was killed by an Israeli sniper in Jenin.
An iconic journalist, and one of the most empathetic and sweetest people. This is who they killed. She loved life, but they stole hers from her.
Having targeted journalists in Gaza, in complete impunity, Israel is now doing the same in Lebanon.
Why will they stop? Only a handful of States have taken measures to sanction them for genocide, apartheid and unlawful occupation.
It is not that complicated: the inaction of the international community breeds Israel impunity which breeds escalating violations.
What is the State of the World’s Human Rights today? Our report examines 144 countries and paints a picture of
States playing with a fire that threatens to scorch the future for generations to come.

Amnesty International along with some 60 NGOs, more than 350 former diplomats, 1 million European citizens have called for a suspension of the EU/Israeli association agreement.
Just hours after the world cautiously welcomed news of a US-Israeli ceasefire with Iran, in Lebanon the nightmare for civilians has become more terrifying.
April 8 was the deadliest day for Lebanese civilians since the latest round of fighting began on 2 March 2026.
Even before yesterday’s attack, more than 1,500 people had been killed and over a million displaced from their homes.
Hospitals have put out calls for blood donations, overwhelmed by the number of injured arriving.
Civilians in Lebanon are already paying an unbearable price with children, health workers and journalists amongst those killed.
The latest attacks will only escalate this devastating human toll.
Israel has an appalling track record of carrying out unlawful attacks in Lebanon, fueled by the impunity Israeli officials feel they enjoy.
States, including the UK, must immediately halt the transfer of arms to Israel given the overriding risk that they will be used to commit serious violations of international humanitarian law.

Amnesty International has warned that football fans attending this summer’s World Cup risk being confronted with “troubling attacks on human rights”.
Amnesty said the “safe, welcoming and inclusive” tournament promised by FIFA, the sport’s governing body and the competition’s organisers, was compromised by “severe restrictions on freedom of expression and peaceful protest”.

In what world is it okay for the Defense Secretary to make multi-million dollar investments in defense companies:
a) Ever;
b) Just before launching a war.

In a functional democracy, he would offer his resignation tonight.
This presents a deep quandary.
Whom are we to believe?
Are we to believe one of the most respected financial and business publications in the world, one known for its accuracy and fact-checking rigor?
Or should we trust Pete Hegseth's hand-picked flak?
I am at a loss.
With this death penalty bill, the Israeli government is adding yet another weapon to its decades-long campaign to eliminate Palestinians. It is apartheid imposed by a noose.
