The best solutions to challenges facing refugee communities come from refugees themselves, and Nery Santaella’s work with @VenezuelanVoice is proof of that. I am honored to be part of this celebration of her lifesaving work.
Congratulations, Nery!
📣 Announcing the 2022 #DeweyRefugeeAward recipient: Nery Santaella!
A Venezuelan refugee herself, Nery founded @VenezuelanVoice, a refugee-led media initiative that provides lifesaving information to people fleeing Venezuela.
All refugees have the #RightToLearn.
Yet, nearly half of all school-aged refugee children are not in school. 📚
The world must ensure access to inclusive education for everyone.
My heart goes out to the families affected by the devastating flooding in Pakistan. Host and refugee families alike need our compassion, and we cannot forget about them in their time of need.

Happy Birthday, @Malala! 🎉
Malala’s story, as well as the others shared in her book We Are Displaced, inspire my work as an advocate for refugee girls and women.

When we talk about refugees, the numbers can be hard to wrap your head around. Especially now, with 100M people displaced.
To make this crisis easier to understand, @UNRefugeeAgency put together a list of 5 key takeaways from the Global Trends Report.

Happy #Pride!
"It is non-negotiable; seeking safety is a human right.”
#COVID1 restrictions, such as #Title42, have posed major obstacles for families seeking safety.
Read as @UNRefugeeAgency Executive Director & CEO @AnneMarieGrey urgently calls for the end of COVID-19 era restrictions:
For the past 2 years, #COVID19 travel restrictions & border closures have impeded families seeking safety. But as @FilippoGrandi put it, “COVID-19 cannot be an excuse to ignore the law and refugee rights.”
That’s why I’m calling for an end to #Title42!

I'm honored to have been part of today's important discussion and always proud of the amazing things we are able to accomplish in partnership with @SesameWorkshop! 👏
Thank you to @annemariegrey from @UNRefugeeAgency for moderating today's discussion on the importance of early childhood development in humanitarian response with @SesameWorkshop and our valued partners. And to @ConcordiaSummit for hosting this important forum.
#ICYMI Check out @UNRefugeeAgency’s featured #WorldRefugeeDay story about Haya and Ghena. These amazing young ladies were born refugees after their family fled Iraq. Now in the U.S., they’re learning about their family’s history & advocating for everyone’s right to seek safety.
What makes you feel safe?
For Haya and Ghena, it’s their father. As they've grown up, they've learned about why their family fled and how their father kept them safe.
This #WorldRefugeeDay, they want everyone to understand the importance of #SafetyForAll!
This #WorldRefugeeDay, I’m sharing something that makes me feel safe to emphasize the importance of #SafetyForAll.
My house keys are a tangible reminder for me of what so many refugees and persons forced to flee hold most dear – security, shelter, and safety.
100M people have now been forcibly displaced. This number is hard to wrap my mind around, but it represents 100M resilient individuals who deserve safety and compassion.
We cannot forget the people behind these numbers. Now more than ever, we need to uplift #refugeevoices.
