Some people saying council tax should be based on the services used.
I'm not sure that's thought through. If taxes were based solely on what you get out, the poorest would pay the most, the richest the least (as they do most things privately). In fact they wouldn't be taxes it'd be a series of service charges.
Instead tax is the cost of living in a legitimate civil society. By contributing towards the common good, you hopefully live in a more contented society (less civil unrest to start with) which means when people need support they get some.

@R82FILMS I think I read in the small print that there’s a condition that the pens need to be returned to Sun Life once the policy has ended, a bit like a WiFi router, which I suppose explains why they are able to be so generous.
