The problem with articles like the Wired one is LongCovid patients aren’t the intended audience. These articles aren’t meant for us. They are for our families, our doctors, our employers, & our elected officials, & they are used to harm us.
I was such a huge Kylie Minogue fan when I was 7 years old.
After watching her Netflix documentary series, I am a bigger fan now than I was when I was 7.
What a absolutely fantastic person she is.

@ExNHSorthopod@benn_elisbenn@hannahspierMD Follow #teamclots and educate yourself on HELP apheresis; not a new treatment.
After only one session my feet were no longer bright red after a shower, my excruciating head pain had eased & I could tolerate standing for longer.
Lots of people have been helped.
What is your issue?
@ExNHSorthopod@benn_elisbenn@hannahspierMD I was at a hospital, the Drs actually tested my blood (unlike in the UK) and they identified one of the things going wrong.
I’m eternally grateful to them.
I arrived in Germany in a wheelchair, I left able to stand and walk more.
You are a fool.
We have guest writer Dr Elke Hausmann examining the controversial Levinovitz WIRED article which has sparked significant concern for its portrayal of Long Covid, recovery narratives, and brain retraining approaches.

@Etanarachel These 'treatments' are all that IS on offer!
CBT, physio, OT, GET. They ARE all on offer. Have been since 2020!
If they worked, there wouldn't be hundreds of millions of sick ppl.
Why don't YOU do some research into what LC patients ARE being offered as 'treatments'?
Does Adam not know that CBT & exercise therapy ARE ON OFFER to LC patients?
And, for the vast majority, don't work!
In 2021 I had CBT and physio. Useless.
Then I went to 🇩🇪 where it was found my D Dimer was 36x higher than normal-HELP apheresis got me out of the wheelchair.
Six years since the height of the pandemic, the scientific community remains baffled by long Covid. But there might finally be a way forward for long Covid treatment—if only you were allowed to talk about it.

@AlanLevinovitz If anything it seems like it could be a violation of journalistic standards to criticize someone’s actions in an identifiable way — “UVA Law professor with long COVID"— and not even reach out to them for comment.
@AndrewG76201347 I cried when they showed me the results, I was SO happy that there was finally a test result showing there was something seriously wrong.
I’d had so many months of being told my tests were ‘fine’ whilst I’d lost the ability to move and think 🤯
@RBMD1982 Rachel. GET and CBT are on offer for LC patients. Have been since 2020.
Mind body approaches are the only thing on offer!!
If they worked, why are there so many ppl still sick?
@WIRED This article is annoying for so many reasons.
But, to clarify, UK LC patients HAVE BEEN OFFERED GET, CBT, OT & PHYSIO SINCE AT LEAST 2021.
So, actually we are forced into talking about these 'treatments' a lot! We have to explain to medics that, for most, THEY DON'T WORK.
🤦♀️
1 of our deepest concerns about the Alan Levinovitz article in WIRED is the redirection of how the community's reaction is the problem
Medicine & those in authority for millennia have demanded a performative purity from patients (esp women).
And punished & blamed if lacking...
