At halftime of Friday's women's basketball home-opener, Wheaton graduate Annie Tate was honored as the recipient of the 2024 CCIW Chris Martin Perseverance Award and was presented with a special plaque by Wheaton Athletics Director, Mike Schauer.
The Chris Martin Perseverance Award honors a student-athlete who demonstrates an unwavering commitment and perseverance to overcome a physical challenge in order to compete at the highest levels of CCIW athletics. Tate was named as the 2024 recipient earlier this year after a standout senior season on the @Wheaton_WBB team in 2023-24 in which she earned both All-Region and All-Conference accolades and set a NCAA Division III record for successful free throw attempts in a single game.

Annie Tate endured many obstacles on her way to becoming a star for @Wheaton_WBB, including major medical issues to her head, foot, and spine.
When she developed a pulmonary embolism, it was the latest and biggest test she’d ever faced. Once again, her unwavering joy of life and perseverance allowed her to overcome another challenge and make it back to the court.
