As Boston College held its Red Bandanna Game on the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11, Center Grove (Ind.) senior linebacker Trew Paxson took the field wearing a red bandanna of his own. He was the only player on the field wearing one, and it was not an official team gesture. Paxson chose it as a personal tribute after learning the story of Welles Crowther and being deeply affected by his courage and sacrifice.
Paxson had an outstanding game, recording six tackles – including five solo tackles and one tackle for loss – along with an interception. He helped Center Grove rally for a 21–10 victory and was named Center Grove’s Defensive Player of the Week.
Paxson was born years after Sept. 11, 2001. Still, Crowther's example meant enough to him that, 25 years later, he chose to carry that legacy onto an Indiana football field @CGTrojansAD@CGTrojanFootbal@CenterGroveHS@trew_paxson_
