A volunteer writes: Oreo knows he can get things right if he can just get another chance. We think that's great and love his optimism, so have offered Oreo some strategies for getting it right the next time around. Except we haven't gotten very far because in a big new place like the shelter, Oreo understandably feels most comfortable doing things his way. Whenever we go to say hello, Oreo swiftly explains that it's not a good time to talk. Remaining in his den, Oreo will sniff the treats we offer but has yet to show interest in any of them. Pets and neck scritches have been met with a definitive no, but ultimately all we want is to help Oreo sort through his plan because we know he can do it. Oreo's looking to find a patient family who will give him the time and space to get things right on his own terms. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻

Lucia is not open to interaction at this time and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. Because her previous owner reports she is active and playful in a home environment, we believe the behavior seen in the care center is shelter-specific and this cat would make a great pet, but is really struggling in the shelter environment. This cat is suitable for adopters with previous cat experience who are willing to work with a cat who needs time and patience to help her adjust to their new home. What my friends at ACC say about me: I prefer to call the shots and enjoy coming to you when I'm ready for pets. I am looking for a home with a patient person. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I'll need daily interaction with you as I get used to my new life. It could be with you! ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻
