Daniel Schlichter was in the second row of Flydubai flight 1073 when he says a woman screamed "somebody's stabbing the pilot." That's when he heard a violent altercation happening in the cockpit and it was clear something was very wrong.
Tzvika Manes is one of 3 passengers who heroically wrestled the would-be FlyDubai hijacker to the ground.
And his wife, Tali, is the one who alerted passengers & crew to the gruesome fight for control of the cockpit
I spoke with them today
Everyone is talking about the men who rushed the cockpit on flydubai 1073. They earned it. But the attack was caught first by Tali Manes, who took her six-year-old to the bathroom at the front of the plane, heard fighting from the cockpit, and didn't tell herself it was nothing.
She got a flight attendant's attention, saw the blood when the door opened, and screamed. Her husband Tzvika, Yaniv Hayun and Asaf Rajuan went in only after that. Herzog thanked her by name and recommended her for the presidential medal alongside the other four.
She should be as well known as they are.
🚨🛩️🫡A South African pilot was sitting in that cabin. After the co-pilot stabbed the captain, he helped fly the jet down. ‼️‼️🛩️
Flydubai FZ1073. Dubai to Tel Aviv. Wednesday morning. About 174 people on board, most of them Israeli. 🇮🇱
The co-pilot Israeli officials say an Omani stabbed Captain Smit Machchhar in the cockpit. Machchhar is Indian. He was on the floor, bleeding, and still got the door open. That is why anyone else got in.
The jet dropped hard. Roughly 14,000 to 17,000 feet in under two minutes. People were screaming. ‼️
Yaniv Hayun went in, got a chokehold on the attacker and dragged him into the aisle. Zvika Manes, Asaf Rajuan and others tied his hands and legs with headphone cables and zip ties and held him until the landing. A dentist on board worked on the captain to save his life. 🙏
Two off-duty Flydubai pilots were deadheading in the cabin. One of them was South African. 🙏🛩️🫡 They took the seats, pulled the nose up and put the Boeing down at Tabuk.
Machchhar is in hospital in Saudi Arabia, stable. The co-pilot is in Saudi custody. Netanyahu is calling it an attempt to crash the plane by radical Islam ☪️ terrorist.
🇮🇱 Israelis filmed the aisle. Blood 🩸 was everywhere from the Indian captain. An Islamist attacker, pinned down by the brave people on the aircraft. A dentist saving the badly injured captain and helping him breathe again.
🚨🫡🛩️ A South African pilot was part of the crew that flew the aircraft to a safe landing at Tabuk. A real-life hero. 🫡🫡🫡👌🛩️
Know your real Avengers 🚨
- Captain Smit Machchhar, who fought the attacker and opened the cockpit
- Asaf Redjuan, who rushed at the attacker
- Israeli dad Tzvika Mans, who tied the attacker with a cable so he couldn't move
- Yaniv Hayon, who handled the aircraft and kept it stable
- Dr. Shota Musaev, who treated the captain and stopped the excessive bleeding.
They all worked together and made sure all those 180 passengers landed safely. Truly, men are brave 🙏
🔥🚨 BREAKING — Netanyahu just met the "lion-man" who entered the cockpit to stop the hijacking of a flydubi flight full of Israelis.
Yaniu. The man who went INTO the cockpit on the flydubai jet and helped take down the attacking pilot.
Prime Minister called him a “lion-man.” Thanked him for the bravery that kept 174 people from becoming a crater.
Stabbed captain opened the door. Young Israelis rushed the front. This guy finished the fight. Now he is on the tarmac with the Prime Minister instead of in a wreckage report.
THAT is a hero. Honor him. Hunt the Omani co-pilot's accomplices. Never again.

A passenger on a flight from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates to Tel Aviv, Israel recounted to @DovLieber the terrifying moments after one pilot stabbed his counterpart and tried to crash the aircraft. Ron Levi said passengers screamed and cried in fear for their lives as the plane plummeted thousands of feet and veered in different directions. He credited several passengers with intervening and restraining the alleged attacker before the flight made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia.
