Learning to read & reading to learn are happening simultaneously. There needs to be a balance between phonics and knowledge. Focus on history, science, literature, & arts is important. It's easy to focus on assessable skills and overlook the internal reader. #READ5373

Though Constructivist Theory states that learning is a natural process, l do not believe this incorporates all types of study. Reading is NOT a natural process. It won't just happen. We have to be more intentional than that. #ScienceOfReading #READ5373

Educational research leads to growth and change. That research is supported by theory. If we can consistently prove that something is true, we can apply that theory and exponentially move our research forward.
