Wow. Finally, a media front page expressing some reality of how bad things are. Thank you @ScotNational
People should be apoplectic at the media who have so far refused to tell the public the full truth of the planetary crisis we are now in.

BAM! Colombia has announced a historic ban on all new oil and large-scale mining projects in its part of the Amazon Rainforest, protecting an area roughly the size of Sweden. 🌿
Experts say the move could help protect one of the planet’s most important ecosystems—often called the “lungs of the Earth.” 🌎🌳
Nature is amazing. Protect it.

In the USA, the Interior Department has cancelled a rule meant to protect plants and animals threatened with extinction, another step in dismantling key provisions of the Endangered Species Act.

My explanation of how climate change is amplifying these wildfires ended up entirely on the @NPR cutting room floor.
Instead they included an extremely misleading of the supposed role of fire suppression and human alteration (expertly debunked here: https://t.co/Yg8OixUwT4 )
The oil industry has knowingly put us on the path to catastrophic breakdown of our life support systems.
The current levels of CO2 and warming is nearly without precedent in the entire geological record — the only known exception being the instantaneous, meteorite-induced event that caused the extinction of non-bird-like dinosaurs 66 million years ago.

Absolutely right. What we saw this week was fueled by climate change & policies that give polluters free rein.
We must hold polluters accountable & make them pay for the damage they’ve done to the air we breathe, the water we drink, & the planet we all call home.
