For those trying to get their heads around why highways in the sky (like the Gardiner expressway) gobble up so much land: access ramps.
Here is a Toronto example: we successfully removed the York-Bay-Yonge eastbound off-ramp of the Gardiner Expressway (image on the left) and turned that space into a park - Love Park (image on the right). We took something ugly and noxious and unnecessary and created an immediate people place.
We know how to do this - we don’t need to spend billions rebuilding a small portion of the Gardiner expressway.
This is a difficult moment for me professionally, and I am asking for your help: my articling principal has decided to close her sole proprietorship, and join a partnership. They do not need an articling student, so I have been dismissed, effective immediately.
In Canada, you have the option to remove your child from both religious studies and sex education at any time.
However, you do not have the option to remove other people's children from those same classes.
*Reminder for those protesting, your province sets the curriculum.
This is Archie. He has "fainting goat syndrome." He doesn't mind because it just means more opportunities for belly rubs. We're pleased to report he's found a forever home who loves him just the way he is. 14/10
Vast majority of Toronto commuters use transit (TTC and GO), cycle + walk.
In the downtown for example, 75% of residents walk, cycle or take transit to work.
Cars are visible + take up a lot of space but they don't do the hard work of getting people around this city.
Good times: Canada has ridiculously cheap gas, an irrational fear of road tolls, and the world's least fuel-efficient cars. No wonder 75% of all new housing built in Canada over the past decade is in gas-guzzling suburbs. No wonder. What a trap!

This is Bama, Dinco, Elphaba, and Argus. They've been trying to take a family photo for the last 45 minutes. Really hard to remember if it's tongues out eyes open or tongues in eyes closed. 13/10 for all

”The famous Italian diver Enzo Maiorca dove into the sea of Syracuse and was talking to his daughter Rossana who was aboard the boat. Ready to go in, he felt something slightly hit his back.
He turned and saw a dolphin. Then he realized that the dolphin did not want to play but to express something. The animal dove and Enzo followed.
At a depth of about 12 meters, trapped in an abandoned net, there was another dolphin. Enzo quickly asked his daughter to grab the diving knives.
Soon, the two of them managed to free the dolphin, which, at the end of the ordeal, emerged, issued an "almost human cry" (describes Enzo). (A dolphin can stay under water for up to 10 minutes, then it drowns.)
The released dolphin was helped to the surface by Enzo, Rosana and the other dolphin. That’s when the surprise came: she was pregnant!
The male circled them, and then stopped in front of Enzo, touched his cheek (like a kiss), in a gesture of gratitude and then they both swam off.
Enzo Maiorca ended his speech by saying: “Until man learns to respect and speak to the animal world, he can never know his true role on Earth.”
