And this, my friends, is exactly what the suits at these companies DON’T account for.

You can ignore angry customers. You can dismiss backlash as “noise.” You can assume people will eventually get over it.

But the real silent killer of a business?

Apathy.

When people stop arguing, stop caring, stop getting excited, stop turning the console on… that’s when you’ve got a much bigger problem.

Anger still means people care enough to fight for something.

Apathy means they’ve started imagining life without you.

And once customers realize they have other places to spend their time and money, winning them back is a whole lot harder than keeping them in the first place.
