Where do you see an exponential ? It is linear growth.
The only thing that does grow exponentially is the compute ressources ($$$).

So AI progresses *linearly* at the cost of exponentially increasing compute resource consumption, which is, of course, not maintainable.
So, no sustained "intelligence explosion" AI will hit the wall soon, probably around GPT 8 or Claude 7
