Don’t feel too badly if you forget your pulmonary physiology from first year med school … according to this study, critical care fellows don’t remember it either.
'Salbutamol only' inhalers or 'terbutaline containing cough expectorants' (without inhaled steroids) should never be used to treat asthmatics. Unfortunately in Nepal, it's still common to find young asthmatics being treated for years with cough syrups and salbutamol monotherapy.
