Anonymous worker in the NHS. Here to share some of the good, bad and ugly of working in the NHS. if anyone wants me to share something @ me or DM in confidence.
I want to start to expose some of the difficulties NHS staff face on a daily basis. Bullying, racism, ableism, cliques and poor leadership. As well as to highlight the great leadership, allies and good work I see. Sadly I have to do this anonymously, which says it all.
@LBC@aliciakearns Oh god, this has brought out all the ‘whataboutery’ possible. Let me add what no one else has… men are killed more often than women by…men! There is a conversation here needed about why men kill both men and women.
@safeguardwomen@ShaunLintern@SteveBarclay@Policy_Exchange Poppycock. I know of racist nurses who definitely don’t accept people from all backgrounds. I’ve seen their ‘private’ what’s app messages. Horrifying that some of them are looking after patients from those backgrounds.Eurgh.
@NuffieldHealth very upset to see you will be closing the outdoor pool at our gym. But even more you are refusing to put in a booking system for the indoor pool! Why? This would help give confidence to those who use the pool that the6 will still be able to actually swim?!
I was asked this morning why have I put out two blog and a series of tweets about the CQC?
I replied it's because the ET Shyam Kumar won and the CQC response to it suggest that at least one director is not a Fit and Proper Person to lead a body with its role.
Staff can't say it.
Why is it necessary, 5 years after a detailed report on normalised bullying by @grumpyoldprof , for staff to whistleblow outside the trust on sumilar issues?
Bullying and harassment ‘normalised’ at trust put back in special measures https://t.co/NbArt3Jew8
@loucarden74 Nope definitely shouldn’t have to, but it’s there, and in many places it’s permitted. There are some great leaders in the NHS but there are so many poor ones 😪
@SueAllison809 Nor many others. There is still a culture of blame and cover up sadly. I see many instances where those who raise issues still get that label, or matters are explained away.
Just heard on Radio 4 that the #NHS claims it has a zero tolerance policy to racism. That is not the experience of those working in it. Look at the recent ETJ @rogerkline shared against #UHDB. Talking shops don’t work. Need to act when it’s raised.
Messenger review badly needed. Worried it won’t hit the mark. Where will the funds come from and what will happen to those already in post, who are not fit for the role?
But worry the system is so broken right now, it can’t. @sajidjavid how can you guarantee our NHS workers this review will be the change we need to our often toxic cultures?
@JamesTitcombe James, can only agree.begged for c section due to terror of birth b/c previous trauma. Psychiatrist wrote to beg on my behalf. They refused.not natural. 4degree tear led to ptsd, floppy baby & needing inpatient mother and baby unit 3 month stay. How cld that be a good outcome?
