I gradually preserve things I care about in my spare time whether it be VHS tapes, Blu-Rays, audio CDs, or even online videos to try to combat censorship.
October 17, 2026 Update:
Hello. I am still working on my color correction restoration project for Song of the South (1946).
However, I need to fully transparent and admit that as someone who has never done color correction for an entire movie before, the process is a bit more complicated than I thought it was going to be.
To avoid stressing myself too much, I am not going to give myself a deadline on November 12 anymore in time for the movie's 80th birthday, but instead, the project will be ready whenever I'm happy with it first and foremost. Because I need to focus on if it looks good to me instead of worrying about social media clout.
I'm already re-tweaking quite a few of the shots in the first animated sequence to try to make them look better than ever before.
I have no idea how long it will take me to finish this, but I hope I'll be able to make the movie look the best that I can. Have a wonderful day, everyone. :)
@BlazingPigeon@LordVaelzareth HOLD IT. Lindsay Clancy showed no remorse for killing her kids, while Ember felt sorry for lying to people, apologized, and took accountability.
You are free to not like Ember for lying about his gender to other content creators, but these two cases are absolutely not the same.
@YourPalNyanus It's pretty ballsy of him to try to save the bird, but it sucks that the family lost a father as a result of this. As tough as it is, I hope they'll move on the best they can.
Wait, not teaching kids about sex means conservatives want children to get raped? What kind of leap in logic is that?😳
Of course any reasonable conservative wouldn't want children to get raped. It's just that the subject is too adult for young kids and something they can learn as they get older like preferably high school or something.
Nope, none of them broke.
Sometimes I have a weird interest in collecting and recording different VHS releases for certain movies. In this picture, I actually have FOUR copies in this photo.
There’s the 1991 and 1992 releases with the only slight difference between the two being the copyright warning screens at the beginning. Then there’s the 1998 release and the 1999 release.
I also added a fifth copy at the beginning of this year, which is the 1986 release. This particular copy came in a standard sleeve which is a bit unique. (Surprisingly worked way better than it could’ve been considering the tape was printed almost 40 years ago at the time of recording.)
And if it wasn’t ridiculous enough, I’m currently quality checking the 1996 release. If that’s all well and good, that makes it a 6th copy. 😂
@ember_paradox@Tectone Unfortunately, there will always be bad actors that will act maliciously beyond your control, but good for you for calling out the harassment as best you can. ❤️
It's okay. It's okay to have opinions that may be considered unpopular as long as they don't come from an evil place of mind.
Speaking for myself, it can be easy to feel insecure about having a viewpoint that is different from others. I don't know if that feeling will ever completely go away.
Now, if you happen to share a viewpoint, and you realize later on you were wrong about said viewpoint as you learn more information about it, and admitted it, I appreciate that sort of thing because it shows that you're a human being that wants to improve. I'm not big into creators who think they're right 100% of the time and can never be wrong about anything, as they can develop a massive ego.
Speaking of that, as someone who enjoys watching Ember, I still support him. Because he admitted to his faults about not being transparent about being a dude to other people he collaborated with and accepted the potential consequences of his actions. He also heavily discourages harassment towards anyone else, even people who may have slighted him. I find that a really admirable character trait.
I know that there are certain individuals I follow who will not give him a chance because he lied about his identity and fear that he may have lied about more things beyond that, or because of content of some book he wrote. They're entitled to those opinions. There's no point in me trying to change their minds because honestly, it's not worth it.
But I'm standing my ground and I'm grateful I own a plushie of his model. This is probably all bullshit rambling but thank you for coming to my TED talk.
