Unpopular opinion: the French conquest of Algeria was entirely morally justified. Algeria was a criminal state that lived off robbing and enslaving Europeans and Americans. The war put an end to its massive slave trade and piracy operation. This is a good thing.
The fact is the “pro life movement” had one job: sway American society,m. Instead they raised, spent, and backed nutjobs. They get handed an actual win and are ungrateful because now they have to do their jobs rather than bitching.
The religious right permanently discredited itself by 2008 by tying itself to the dumpster fire of the Bush administration. The wheels were coming off the wagon by 2005.
Remember when evangelicals were trying to shove "intelligent design" into school curriculums? Every school board member across the country who supported that insanity got sued, lost their job, or both. In Pennsylvania, a school board that tried to ram intelligent design down students' throats had an electoral bloodbath, with all but one of the religious right board members being voted out of office.
One could argue that the religious right paved the way for the leftist takeover of school curriculums, because they wasted their political capital on creepy things like "purity balls," "abstinence education," and whatnot, losing elections to left-wing candidates who opposed those things and also think it's Adam and Steve, not Adam and Eve.
The religious right failed to read the room in the 2000s. People tolerated them as harmless weirdos when the economy was doing well. Stuff like John Ashcroft covering up nude statues because he couldn't bear the sight of tits was met with a disinterested chuckle. When Dubya, the religious right president, ruined LITERALLY EVERYTHING, the religious right died with his presidency.
The most popular Republican in 20 years is a twice-divorced reality star known for crass behavior around women. His vice president is a Catholic convert who is largely mum about his religion and is married to a practicing Hindu. His number three guy is also a lapsed Catholic who moonlights as a DJ. Not a single dried-out evangelical preacher type among them, unlike the cavalcade of chomolike Dubya creeps who had revolving doors on their closets.
The religious right is once again failing to read the room. Parents don't want their kids reading anal sex manuals in class or being tr00ned out by teachers. That does NOT mean they also want a total ban on abortion or their kids being taught that the world poofed into existence 6,000 years ago. The religious right sabotaged the 2022 midterms by taking the Dobbs victory and leveraging it into total abortion ban referendums that got defeated across the board and sank Republican candidates with them. Pro-lifers were threatening to sit out the 2024 election because Trump said abortion should be handled by the states. They're as repulsive and tone-deaf to the general population as Massie libertarians are.
I also can't help but notice that a great many of the Retard Right anti-Trump figures are loud, performative Catholics. I don't mean all Catholics (I am Catholic). You know who I'm talking about: a catboy who rambles on about the "Son of God" when he'd burst into flames if he ever walked into a church; an e-girl who gets the pope to bless the marriage where she's cheating on her fiance; the list goes on. Degenerate freaks who are just as bad as the left.
The religious right needs to accept that they lost. They're still in the car, but they're in the backseat and aren't getting behind the wheel anytime soon. Most Americans are functionally secular; church attendance drops every year. Your average "Catholic" just goes to midnight mass on Christmas Eve, if that. A serious political movement would ask why they failed so miserably and draw up a plan to sell their policies to voters. They'd rather recreate the Moral Majority in an America less Christian and observant than the one Jerry Falwell knew. An unserious, failed movement.

@mattforney The “pro life movement” exists only to raise capital to advertise on daily wire to raise more $
Their sole meaningful contribution to the right in America has been their unintentional financing of the rw podcast/radio industrial complex
What do you expect Donald Trump to do?
Let’s say he spends his own money, buys all the NBA finals tickets, and gives every last one to impoverished disables trans children of color
There will still be hundreds of millions of Americans who can’t attend the NBA finals
These Mexicans can claim it is about Palestine or religion all they want, but we all know they're just seething that Stephen Miller deported them.
They're losers. They've lost to a Jew. They screech, "The Jews were expelled from 109 locations!"
But how many American cities were these illegal Mexicans deported from? Far more than 109!
It is that simple.
@LegionHoops@atrupar Democrats are going to wail and moan about this as thought they follow any sports besides Obese Ballet and Ozempic Olympics. Come on.
If PE is going to invest in law firms, we need to repeal the American rule and force plaintiffs to pay for defendants legal costs if their suit fails. If repeal doesn’t happen, PE money will be used to manufacture even more baseless litigation / settlements than already exists.
John McCain caused a near mid-air collision in training that ended up breaking the back of a pilot, ending his career.
He also started a deck fire that killed several people.
After being captured, all accounts of fellow prisoners say he was a turncoat POS.
John McCain is not taught about in SERE school. Many heroes are, for their conduct in captivity.
John McCain is not a hero. He was a piece of shit, until the end.
His last act was betraying his country and peddling the fake Steele Dossier to try and take down President Trump.
Fuck John McCain.
@mattforney Now, will they be the lads who save Britain yes. But do you want to see to them getting pissed on cheep pints after burning themselves red and before going to strip clubs ehh
@mattforney If you ever go to Malta avoid st Julian’s like the plague. It’s chavvy lads who are essentially in Malta because the arbitrage of price of a pint is such that if they drink a dozen a night over the course of the bank holiday they save more than the cost of the Ryanair ticket
