79 years ago, on December 20, 1946, Comrades Thidil Kannan and Keeneri Kunhambu were shot dead by the Malabar Special Police while engaged in a militant mobilization against feudal lords and their goons, who were forcibly transporting grain produced by the peasantry at a time when a famine-like situation prevailed in the region after the end of the Second World War. This sparked a wave of peasant and Communist struggles across the Malabar region against feudal domination and British Imperialism that changed the course of history.

CPI(M) remembers and salutes the brave martyrs who laid down their lives in Karivellur. Long live the Martyrs!
