@griffitha Work hard, recruit, train staff, hire premises, invest into the local high street and get utterly shafted by the Treasury for all of that risk and public good.
@griffitha My wife's salon of 20 yrs on the high st is trading in a state of life support due to successive tory and labour policy - eye watering costs of employing staff, net z energy, cliff edge VAT, and a lack of apprentices. A kick in the teeth from gov's left and right.
Who would be the most expensive player in Premier League history adjusting for football inflation (increase in total revenue for the PL per season)? It has to be the greatest goalscorer...the one and only @alanshearer at an inflation adjusted £223.3m when signing for Newcastle. He also appears at £100.2m when signing for Blackburn. @rioferdy5 appears twice in the top dozen signings
From @TheAthleticFC: If referee calls had been correct, the Premier League title race would have entered the final match round with Manchester City two points clear of Arsenal, according to our analysis of key match decisions. https://t.co/FSWGZMMBRL

Riyad Mahrez on @KevinDeBruyne: "His first year at #ManCity with [Manuel] Pellegrini, good player but I was more amazed by David Silva. When Pep [Guardiola] arrived, he took [him to] a different [level], incredible. Pep knows how to use quality, the quality of Kevin.
"I remember Kevin as a winger [under Pellegrini] when I was at Leicester in his first year - he's not a winger! Pep used Kevin best, took everything out of Kevin; number eight, attacking space, crosses, left, right, shooting. He's an incredible player. I've never seen a player like him.
"He's a different type of player. You've never seen this. He can run, shooting is a joke, left, right, passing. But he needed to be fit. When he's fit, he's a joke. Another player was [Sergio] Agüero. When I arrived, the finishing was a joke. He's like this [small], like this [strong]. I swear, the finishing right, left, head - head as well - he can jump; crazy, crazy striker!" [via @Koora_Break]

Changed football in this country right through to grass roots.
Thankyou Pep 🐐
Appears Pep is likely to leave at the end of the season if the reports are to be believed. Biggest compliment I can pay him is he fundamentally changed how I view football and I’ve learnt most through a lens of Pep. I wouldn’t be working in football if he didn’t join City.
Pep may be the most tactically interesting/influential coach in history. But I just love how much he loves the game. He went to Newport, the pitch was mud, the cup tie a battle - and he was in heaven. Made lasting friendship with Michael Flynn. Texts happy birthday to Flynn's son
1984: Do you hate Mondays? In April 1984 Breakfast Time took to the streets of London to tackle an age old debate – is Monday really the worst day of the week?
I still can’t believe Parliament has legalised abortion up to the moment of birth. We live in a country where it is illegal to hunt a fox - or indeed to sell a drinking straw made of plastic - but lawful to kill a human baby. We have lost our way.
