There is no idealogy in cryptocurrency. I used to think there is, but I had a rude sobering.

If you are "in crypto" then either you are in it for the money or for the tech, or you are being played by thkse who are.

The rest is stories we tell ourselves to suppress the embarrassment about being so financially/professionally/emotionally invested in what's basically the world's largest, most predatory casino.

Every single crypto founder I've worked with turned out to be lacking in integrity and morality. Full stop, no exceptions.

Acting in good faith and openness in the cryptocurrency world is a non-competitive handicap. That's what happens when there are basically no consequences for lying, stealing, and defamation.

Not a single crypto project is in any way propped to solve any of society's problems without creating worse problem, mostly very old problems.

Nakamoto consensus pins power and influence to property in ways much worse than fiat ever could. It's not a crypto anarchy, its digital feudalism. It solves surface problems with the modern monetary system by reintroducing the much worse dynamics they were designed to solve.

DLT might have interesting applications, but they are not catalyst fo social reform.

"Code is law" means users are subjugated to a dogma of rules that are beyond their comprehension. For the typical user, "code is law" doesn't mean they understand the law. They still need an authority to tell them what's right and wrong, and more often than not, this authority becomes ineffable to them. The resulting dynamic is more reminiscent of the rabbinical orthodoxy than of a healthy monetary system that tries to give users as much leeway as possible.

If you are into crypto for the money or the tech, good for you. If its for "idealogy" then 99% you are exploited for being gullible. There is no "movement". You are not going to "fix the money" and the proposed "fixes", even if they are adopted, will definitely not "fix the world".

The only monetary systems more exploitative than the proposed "crypto anarchy" are in underdeveloped dictatorships such like Burundi and Sudan. But for all the affluence, the attempts to actually incorporate these communities are very few and far between, even though they are the only people in the world that can benefit from these systems already today. Why? Because there's hardly any money there so screw them. That's your "social reform".

After four years of crypto stints with a variety of projects, I can't name a single "community" I'd trust with any modicum of power, let alone being the most influential fragment of the world's next financial paradigm. All crypto brings out in people is the absolute worst facets of human nature. If anything, my exposure to it made me more of a Machiavellian than I ever thought I could be. In large numbers, humans just cannot be trusted. And the way I learned to see the crypto industry is as a series of social experiments that prove this beyond reasonable doubt. The only saving grace is the selection bias: there's still hope that crypto brings these sides out of people because it's more appealing ro morally flawed people to begin with. So I havent lost faith in humanity just yet, just in the portions that flock into crypto.

Either way, I dont want any part in this industry anymore. I'm completely disillusioned with it and lost all convictions that it holds any promise for improving society. And it makes me itchy.

So please stop tagging me in posts about cryrocurrency.

> vanity decoys: attacker generates wallets matching the shape of yours, lets them appear in your history, waits for the mistake

> tg bot leak: most telegram trading bots hold your seed server-side. one server breach = every user drained at once

> fake recruiter / support dm: coding test zip, game build, or zoom plugin install.

> seed in icloud: that photo of your 24 words is synced. one phished apple/google account = full drain

> supply chain: an npm package or sdk inside a wallet you trust gets backdoored. you did nothing wrong. drained anyway
