missed another shitcoin pump? Dont be sad.
Focus on high conviction bets - research the f out of a project, understand it deeply. Only then youll be able to hold a large position despite volatility.
Bonus: the above increases the chance of investing into something good :)
The End Game
You call it the L1 premium, I call it tacit confirmation of the thesis.
imo, the TAM for decentralized money, commerce, finance and SoV will keep growing and ETH, SOL, etc. eventually steal market share from BTC as investors realize all the L1 coins are actually trying to be the same thing, just with different priorities and optimizations, and businesses and consumers will coalesce wherever suits their financial needs best.
Outwardly, everyone seems to have lost sight of the vision for crypto's endgame. idk, perhaps it's just in my trader/investor echo chamber. I understand though, because it's taking much longer than expected to progress. Oh well. (btw, "endgame" is a misnomer b/c it never ends but you know what I mean)
- globalization & connectivity
- destabilizing events
- corrupt and inefficient governments
- inflation and debasement
- slow, antiquated, and gatekept systems
- monopolies
- unnecessary fees
- excessive regulations
- AI
- metaversization
- economic prosperity
- freedom
- human nature
All accelerate the endgame.
The formation of various new decentralized online digital economies with their own unique principles and values, within which we store our assets, do business, and pay "taxes" (txn fees, block rewards).
Just as we do in the physical world with our traditional assets and monies bound by geography.
These digital economies exist separately from their traditional and physical counterparts... until they don't. Several countries use another country's native currency as their own (or peg their own currency to them). A USD peg today is a BTC/ETH/SOL (or all of the above) peg tomorrow.
Dollars, Pounds, Bitcoins, and Ethers are all competing for the same market share. It's just so early in the game that you haven't noticed yet.
Most of the world's countries don't exist anymore. Most of the world's currencies don't exist anymore. Creating successful ones has always been hard and fraught with chaos and dispute.
Anyways. In the "end" it will seem obvious. After all, the person(s) that started this whole crazy idea saw the vision from the very beginning.
I would be supportive of raising the Ethereum validator node requirements such that some existing home stakers are no longer able to run Ethereum validators.
I believe this is best for the long term decentralization and success of Ethereum.
short 🧵
Guys can you please stop with all that drama for a moment... like seriously... what are you doing?! -
The only right thing to do here is to wish @AyaMiyagotchi well and thank her dearly for all she did, because for all we know it was her subtractive strategy that resulted in ETH being declared a commodity under the most vicious SEC imaginable. We got an ETF when everyone thought it was impossible. The EF played to Ethereum's biggest strength. Credible neutrality, which is now so manifested that it puts Ethereum and ETH in a league of its own. This imo is the ultimate achievement. the regulatory environment will definitely be different under Trump, but I think we got a decent shot at a staked ETF being approved "very" soon and I fear any "big" leadership changes at the EF that are done with haste might actually jeopardize that effort. My guess is that regulators in fact were in contact with the EF and this lead to the EF being mostly silent and not being as transparent as they should. At least we should give them the benefit of the doubt.
Don't get me wrong. I agree that change needs to happen and @VitalikButerin made it clear plenty of times that they will.
But I'd rather wait a few weeks and let the EF dish out what they prepared over the last year (when it was clear that the regulatory pressure would be lifted), than to have the EF just throw most of it away.
Especially since there may be important things involved we might not know about.
Yes. That's exactly the thing that needs to change most. "Transparency". But I outlined you my guess on why that is and I certainly don't want to jinx that.
There's also stuff we absolutely cannot "force" as a community and that is @dannyryan coming back. If anything he might be less tempted to after all this drama.
So please... for the love of Ethereum don't "panic" and "quit", when all you have to do is chill the fuck out, be grateful, be helpful and let grown ups figure out what's next. I for sure would love @dannyryan to be involved with Ethereum again in any capacity and am welcoming important changes to the EF in this new regulatory environment.
Our message has been sent. Things are happening and I'm hopeful the people involved will do the right thing by Ethereum.
@cryptoklotz@zatami1 Ppl that want to use eth battletested defi apps like aave but with low fees use arbitrum
Apart from memecoins solana isnt really used more than arbitrum, is it?
@ArtemisConsort nah its the normal name for coins, self aware crypto bros know that its all mostly hot air so there is nothing negative about the word shitcoin, its more of a beloved tongue in cheek name
@econoar@Evan_ss6 Leaves me even more confused what the prob is then. We didnt get a gas raise for 9 months since your initiative, so its clearly needed that we openly talk about the urgency, path dependency etc.
Which gets us more public support for gas pump. Whats bad about that?
@econoar Dude the only thing they suggested is to increase L1 gas scaling so that activity doesnt leak elsewhere while rollups keep scaling
How on earth can you be against that? Blows my mind tbh that you dont want ETH to succeed
When I first became active in the Ethereum community, I was a random retard with strong and often controversial opinions. I butted heads with many, including with some that one would consider to be from the "inner circles". But, throughout all that time, I never felt unwelcomed. In fact, in hindsight, a lot of people were nicer than they should have been to me.
It breaks my heart when "OGs" respond to criticism with antagonism because they're afraid of their own bubble being popped. Ethereum was built through collaboration and became stronger through internal disagreement. Instead of quelling any dissent, it's time to once again embrace it. Fuck the inner circles. Fuck the achievements. Fuck the motives. The only thing that matters is the validity of one's opinions.
in my somewhat ‘impressionable’ period of crypto, i found ‘into the ether.’ i enjoyed the pod, but i quickly started looking for something more as it felt constrained and somewhat 1-dimensional
i discovered bankless in early 2021, and i’d say that not only did it make me a devout ETH bull during my impressionable phase of crypto, but it also held my conviction in ETH through the depths of the ‘22 bear. david and ryan grind hard, work their ass off, and i don’t think they get enough credit for that
what resonates most with me about bankless is the willingness to address challenging subjects head-on. while their bias toward ETH may still shine through from time-to-time, there’s a genuine effort to steal-man their conviction on why ETH is the best asset in the world, which, in turn, helps reinforce my own conviction
i’m very disappointed in the low-quality brand of criticism that both you and DC have exhibited recently. in my view, the values of ethereum have always represented critical thinking, openness, diversification in thought, and plurality. this is what i believe makes the ethereum community so robust
david and ryan never explicitly asked to be public representatives of the ethereum community, and whether they like it or not, they’ve sort of assumed the mantle—and that’s by no accident. it’s because their approach aligns well with the virtues and values of the greater ethereum community
your criticism here, eric, focusing not on the details of the content’s substance but rather on who’s saying it—and even worse, what bags they may or may not hold—comes off as some pretty weak-ass maxi shit. it’s the exact kind of stuff i absolutely despise about bitcoin maxis
i’m willing to bet that the majority of people who liked your tweet didn’t do so because they agree with you on merit. rather, they liked it because they don’t like bankless, feel it doesn’t focus enough on their bags, and hate ETH. take a moment to let that sink in
it’s great that you’re a hardcore ETH bull; the world abounds in all kinds. but open your eyes, bud. if the entire ethereum community exuded the smol-brain, obtuse level of engagement and criticism exhibited in your tweet, I would have ditched my ETH a long time ago. that’s not my ethereum and i think you can be better
@ethcarry@RyanSAdams@econoar Whats disingenuous about suggesting a L1 execution scaling? That would literally help ETH a ton, so I honestly dont get your take.
@0xASK This just denominates your token sale in your competitors token as the payment method.
The later dumping is thus offset by the buying of your competitors token to participate in the sale, making the net effect zero on your competitors token price. So what is the point?
@RealDianeYap I am conservative in the sense that I agree with the historical consensus that vaccines are mostly good and oils are made of molecules, the ratios of which don’t vary much between different fats.
@WestieCapital@llamaonthebrink and thats a bad thing bc why?
ordinals are understood as a btc extension but ofc the repo maintainers could migrate to a different chain
nearly everything in crypto is social consensus
