GOD OF WAR: LEGACY OF THE SUN
Part I – The Dream of the Desert Sun
Snow fell softly outside the cabin, melting into quiet streams that ran through the valley Kratos now called home. Smoke rose from the hearth, and the scent of burning pine mixed with something rare — peace.
Kratos sat by the fire, his hands scarred yet steady, mending a wooden carving. His eyes, once filled with rage, now reflected calm.
Behind him, a familiar voice broke the silence.
“Still working before dawn, husband?”
Kratos looked up. Faye stood by the doorway, her golden hair catching the firelight. She smiled — that same warm, knowing smile that once felt like a memory, now real again.
“How?” he had asked when she first returned — a question neither of them could answer.
Life, death, gods, and fate — Kratos had torn through them all. Yet here she was, alive. And for the first time in centuries, he allowed himself to believe that maybe… the gods had no more battles left for him.
“Peace doesn’t sit well with you, does it?” Faye teased.
Kratos grunted. “It is… unfamiliar.”
From the corner, Mimir’s head rested atop a shelf, his single eye glowing faintly in the dim light.
“Well, I must say, brother, this is a right pleasant sight. The Ghost of Sparta finally at peace — and without something trying to kill him every ten minutes!”
Kratos almost smiled. Almost.
Faye walked closer, touching his shoulder. “Atreus will be proud when he returns. You should rest.”
Kratos nodded silently. He gazed at the snow through the window — each flake drifting down like an echo of the past. And for the first time in years, he let himself sleep.
