@pfmanna@JeffPassan It's just too high.
I get the want to sacrifice some accuracy for a "human element" to this.
But it's just too high. Something like that should not determine the outcome of a game.
@EvanRobertsWFAN Recency bias going on here.
2025 wasn't a "collapse". This team didn't collapse......they just played poor baseball for a large portion of the season.
2007 .......up 7 with 17 to play was a clear cut collapse.
@DanBartels2 I don't know Dan. I mean 2007, what happened was so unexpected.
We've been a poor baseball team since Mid June here. While obviously a massive disappointment, it's hard to not have seen this one coming. I wouldn't call this a collapse, we've just been a poor baseball team.
@JoeMichalski@uuujason@ChiefManaea@Masterflip_ Yeah honestly it's easy to say 7 pitches but managers have more information than we do. He said he was only available for 1 inning. I tend to trust that.
How about someone in that bullpen get a clean inning that's not named Diaz.
@JoeMichalski@uuujason@ChiefManaea@Masterflip_ I mean there's certainly specific game situations that you can fault a manager for making a decision that didn't work.
At the end of the day tho I mean guys just need to perform.
@ChiefManaea@JoeMichalski@Masterflip_ Exactly.
Eitherway the convo is old and tired. Team underperforms. Someone will ALWAYS blame the manager.
As if that is the real issue here.
@JoeMichalski@Masterflip_ This team was two games away from the World Series last season lol.
This is very similar to the Buck situation. Year 1 = great, Year 2 = not great.
These managers aren't just changing their philosophy in year 2 lol.
Silly to blame managers for players not performing.
@irlcifera This is the entire point of all this. The Mets change managers and the SAME STUFF happens year after year.
Changing managers does not help here. This team had flaws from a player perspective. If that doesn't get addressed, God could manage this team and we'd still be bad.
@CAEZMEH@TCN819@Masterflip_ this completely runs counter to what Sterns actually said tho. Granted at the time of the interview we were in a playoff spot but I don't think it changes things.
I don't care one way or the other. I think people on this website vastly overrated the importance of the manager
@TCN819@answer1313@Masterflip_ I think itโs unlikely heโs back. Itโll be interesting to see if player exit interviews are bad in the days after the season ends. Weโve seen cases like this before where you think the guy will get one more shot but then that stuff starts coming out and you know itโs over
@nysprtsshtpost@Masterflip_ People will always blame the manager. Easier to fire the manager then to get rid of a bunch of guys that just haven't performed to the standards they should be.
