The lesson of the Holocaust was not that the Nazis were uniquely evil. The lesson was that anyone can become a Nazi. You're witnessing this with America right now.
My 11th grade US History teacher gave me this when he retired. He kept a bunch of quirky decorations referencing American history in his classroom, but this was always my favorite, so he let me keep it.
Never thought it'd become critically relevant again a decade later.
not even all the Palestinians killed since the Nakba but just in the last 18 months. in tiny font and in 2 columns. the scale of this genocide is unfathomable.
Booker: "I confess that I have been imperfect. I confess that I've been inadequate to the moment. I've confess that the Democratic Party has made terrible mistakes that gave a lane to this demagogue. I confess we all must look in the mirror and say 'we will do better.'"
Read this headline if you want to know what total impunity of a genocidal state looks like.
There should be wall-to-wall coverage and global condemnations for this horror story.
Netanyahu is pure evil. There was a ceasefire. Hamas was complying. Israel refused to move to Phase 2 of the deal and is now bombing Gaza again. Anyone who stands with Netanyahu is evil.
It’s 3 AM local time in Gaza, and there are more than 100 bombings across the strip. We have all woken up because it feels like a strong earthquake. The Israeli government has decided to resume this genocide and break the ceasefire.
I really like this bit in Pinestar's Choice. I like in general how this book offers an actual critique of clan life without hand-waving it at the end... you're supposed to read this and know that shanty is right
Frostdawn's story was impactful to me. Her choice to live to see a new day spoke to me. So much in her life, both politically & familial, went wrong but she kept fighting for a better future and then chose to live to see that future.
I think there's a lot to be learned from her.
Once again, no one elected Elon Musk to do anything, he's not been confirmed by the Senate to do anything, and he has zero authority to unilaterally stop federal government payments for anything. This is a five-alarm constitutional crisis.
We cannot allow Elon Musk, the richest man on earth, to seize control of $6 trillion in Treasury payments, including Social Security checks, Medicare benefits, and tax refunds. An unelected billionaire should not have power over our families' livelihoods.
Over the last nine days, the house has been out of session while the Democracy is sold for parts.
Would have been nice had the Democrats come back on their own and sued, yelled, stood up, etc. Anything but stayed home
This is a five alarm fire.
The people elected Donald Trump to be President - not Elon Musk.
Having an unelected billionaire, with his own foreign debts and motives, raiding US classified information is a grave threat to national security.
This should not be a partisan issue.
A private citizen is invading and shutting down government departments. The courts and Congress are awol.
If this isn’t a constitutional crisis, and oligarchy gone wild, then I don’t know what is.
