"This was not a random catastrophe, akin to a natural disaster. It was the logical result of Russia’s trajectory since the 1990s. The Baltic states warned Europe and the West about it. And no one listened."
I made this photo as a war correspondent in Grozny, Chechnya in February 1996. It reads - "Chechnya in Russia - genocide, poverty! Russia in Chechnya - aggression, war!" and "Reichstag - nazism! Kremlin- Russism!" This was 26 years ago. What has changed?
A killer comes into a house, kills the father, rapes the daughter, kills pets, sets the house on fire, tries to kill the mother but is shot dead by her. The killer's friends go on TV and say: this woman is a Nazi. -- this is Russian propaganda in a snapshot
In the past ten days, Russian missiles and drones hit Ukrainian civilian and critical infrastructure objects 190 times, Ukraine's emergency services have said. 16 out of 24 regions have been affected, plus the capital Kyiv. 70 people were killed, 240 wounded
A thread about the current state and trajectory of Russia’s war against Ukraine 🧶

A few days ago 🇷🇺 shelled Zelenodolsk, Dnipropetrovsk region
Twin brothers were playing outside. During shelling, one of the boys fell. Other, Denis, covered his brother with himself. A shell fragment hit him
It wasn't possible to save the boy. He was only 9

The pro-annexation concert on Red Square is in full swing. Ivan Okhlobystin, the star of the Russian version of Scrubs, is saying that Kharkiv, Odesa, Mykolayiv, and other cities in "Russian Ukraine" are next to be annexed
In the first days of the full-scale invasion, I was probably contacted by more people than I knew. And up until today, I’m stunned by the kindness, understanding, and support I get from almost everyone around. Everyone, except my Russian relatives. They never reached out. 1/
Losing on the battlefield, Russians deliberately murder civilians.
Russian strike kills 23, injures 34 near Zaporizhzhia. People were trying to pass the checkpoint to enter occupied territory, bringing aid and trying to evacuate relatives.
Russians are murderers and terrorists.
History IS repeated, deliberately. We had sham elections in WWII, resulting Lithuania "happily" joining soviet union. Of course, this "happiness" came with a prize: 300.000 Lithuanians killed or deported to Siberia & 50 years of occupation.
Russia’s genocide in Ukraine is based on the idea that Eastern European nations don’t have a sovereign right to exist like nations elsewhere.
But we hear that sentiment even from some Westerners and even some who call themselves liberals. They see our sovereignty as provocative.
